Won't be seeing them in 2020

Brian McCann, 35, announced his retirement following the Braves' ouster in the NLDS

15 seasons, most of them as a full-time player; seven time All-Star; six Silver Slugger awards; 282 career HRs; 110 OPS+ as a catcher; twice got back of the pack MVP votes.

When he returned to the Braves this year I figured it would be maybe twice a week starts plus some PH'ing, but wound up with nearly 300 ABs and started all the playoff

games over both Flowers & Cervelli.

And made the last out of a certain no-hitter.

Last night was apparently it for CC Sabathia, who exited the mound with an injury while pitching relief and already announced his retirement once the postseason is over.

How sad to go out the way he did...in a MFY uniform, that is.

Deserves it's own thread.

He sure was what you'd like a baseball citizen to be, though he sure could have gotten off the fence in 2016.

Re: Won't be seeing them in 2020

When ex-Yankee outfielders Paul O'Neill and Johnny Damon declared themselves in the bag for Trump, Curtis Granderson made a couple of statements about it being good that athletes should be politically active, while refusing to publicly come out for or against anybody himself.

Good for him. He has every right to keep his politics to himself. Politics have become a source of toxicity in other areas of life.

I didn't write that he didn't have a right to keep his politics to himself.

Dishonest distortions of what somebody writes have become a source of toxicity in other areas of life.

Morales may be retiring but basically ended his career breaking his leg celebrating a home run

Everyone thought Hellickson would be great, wasn't really though. Baseball is hard to be really good at.

We're not seeing anybody in 2020, but should we at some point, Mark Reynolds won't be among them. He has announced his retirement. He hit one of the longest home runs Citi Field barely contained fairly early on in the life of the ballpark.

A Stage 3 colon cancer diagnosis for Orioles star Trey Mancini

This was first indicated during pre-season physicals then diagnosed via further testing back in March although he's just going public with that info now.

He won't be playing in the 2020 season even if there is one as he'll need chemo treatments over the next few months, but says the tumor was removed

just days after it was discovered and things are looking optimistic for now and for the 2021 season.
