Phillies whack Kapler

As I noted at the beginning of the year the NLE was going to end disappointing for at least 2 clubs.

It was a fun year with 4 of them all more or less "going for it"

Saw that coming.

Phillies phans grew very phrustrated with him this year. He was sort of seen in a way similar to Mickey, in that he had a reputation for smarts that he made the mistake of buying into, leaving him looking half-smart at too many junctures. Also prone, like Callaway, to justify his decisions in depth as if nobody could see all the facets he could see, before changing his mind a short time later.

Would be interesting to somehow replay the 2019 season with say, Snitker managing the Mets; Callaway skippering the Nats; Kapler in charge of the Braves and Martinez with Philly.

Two of them presumably would be out of work today, but which 2?

That would be fun. Mattingly doesn't get to participate in the Musical Chairs game, but no matter for him, because he got a contract extension.

Pretty funny to think of Harper taking the whole offseason (and then some) to land with a team and then ending up with his old manager.

I'm thinking Callaway pulls out from the early-season Washington slide too late and doesn't find the right bullpen mix in time to rebound enough -- he's fired. Maybe before the season ends.

Kapler's Braves probably still win the division but with a serious challenge from Snitker's Mets. They meet again in the playoffs!

Martinez goes home with a close-but-no-cigar Phillies unit and also looks for work
