Lawyers R Us

Double Switch
Sep 28 2019 05:54 PM

Seriously, if I'm up to my eyebrows in alligators in the Trump Swamp and require a lawyer, the guy I am not turning to is Rudy the Ghoul.

" ... as the scandal has intensified, Giuliani has repeatedly gone on Fox News to push back on the notion he went rogue, claiming his outreach and trips to meet with Ukrainian officials were undertaken at the behest of officials at the State Department, including Kurt Volker, the US special representative for Ukraine negotiations."

Going on Fox opinion shows to prove you somehow have not "gone rogue" is the very definition of batsh*t crazy.

The Watergate hearings occurred during my early 20s at a time when I could spend all the possible hours TV was broadcasting on following every putrid moment. Now, in my early 70s, I can spend hours (far too many hours) following this online with all the news shows plus Colbert and Meyers. I am grateful to learn that House reps claim this won't take months and months and months to finish because I truly have better (fun stuff) things to do. Since, however it's becoming winter here, I am less inclined to pursue outdoor activities and more inclined to drink too much coffee and wine while having it all explained to me. Thank you, Joyce Vance! The point that was best explained was that "pressure" is not the issue upon which Trump will be impaled. No. The actual word is "solicitation" as spelled out in the Constitution.

Thus: "Federal law prohibits a foreign national from directly or indirectly making a “contribution or donation of money or other thing of value” in connection with a U.S. election, and prohibits a person from soliciting, accepting or receiving such a contribution or donation from a foreign national." This is US Federal law and cannot be wished away by Trump (or pitbull) apologists. He did it - he admitted to it. Some of us call this arrogance. Some of us call this chutzpah. Some even call it Trump being Trump. I think Donnie is desperate to go back to his cronies in NYC and does not believe the SDNY will prosecute him if he is out of office. I will love to see his orange face when he finds out how wrong he is on that one.

My hope is this is all on the fast track and will be settled before I leave town again in mid-November. I like to go radio silent (except to follow Grand Sumo Highlights) when I travel and would hate to have to rescind that rule over this.

I smell toast.
