Twitter question

How come when I go to my twitter account I get all these tweets from places I'm not following? (Though I'll admit that is how I found out about callaway going away) Is there a way to make it stop?

There are "sponsored" tweets, which is a nice way to say "ads." Look to the top left of these tweets and you'll see a little arrow. Click on that and you'll see some options including "I don't like this ad." You'll never stop getting ads, but you can block ones you don't like from ever coming back.

some third party apps don't show you the ads Like i generally (on the computer ) use tweetdeck.twitter.com and I don't see them.
