Sports Illustrated circling the drain?

Maybe this should be in the Guess Who Died thread, but this article doesn't make it sound like SI is long for this world, and least in any form we'd care about.

The story is in Deadspin, so the usual grains of salt apply and the snark-meter is off the charts. But none of this sounds good.

SI became irrelevant for me several decades ago, along with Baseball Weekly and The Sporting News. I haven't missed them so the conclusion is I won't.

I'm really going to miss those in depth articles about underwater pretzel throw tourneys (AAU sponsored) in Provo, Utah and the pictorial layouts of the proper attire to wear while attending them.

SI to become a monthly publication starting in 2020

I hadn't even realized that it's been a bi-monthly for nearly two years now (since Jan 2018).
