Trump seems to believe that labeling someone as "no angel" is damning. No angel? Is this some kind of mob slang? "He's gonna sleep with the angels"?

By insulting a person in saying they are no utter paragon of virtue, it has the double effect of insulting the person's would be defenders as well, suggesting that they naïvely consider the person an angel. He also created fake characters on his diplomatic staff who told him they were afraid to go after her because she's a woman, as if there's somehow something exotic and unusual about female ambassadors.

I'm not straw manning anything. If analyzing him the way you did gets you through the day then have at it. I've reached a mental health point with him it's just easier to call him an asshole and hope for the best some days some hours some minutes. They should have done something 2 1/2 years ago. They're all assholes too.
