Not to speak for Edgy or anything but I don't think he was being snarky. I read it as a comment on Kurt Cobain's deadness, not your list, which is good .

It's really not meant as snarky. I don't know why you dropped out but respect your choice. I won't stop until the mornin' lightand Nirvana's (from "All Apologies"): In the sunIt wasn't meant to mean much of anything, except, I guess, to contrast Prince's apparent vision of marriage as some sort of sexual fantasy with Cobain's apparent view of it as suffocation, without a value judgment on either. I did a much worse job merging two bands' lyrics in the AC/DC-Floyd thread. It was just something that popped into my head to do while making the matchup chart.

WP - Novoselic (3-1) LP - E (2-2) SV - Grohl (12) You know, I didn't vote for it, but I've had "Pennyroyal Tea" in my head all morning. Dammit. Gotta credit Novoselic and Grohl for carrying on the legacy well. The Foo Fighters kick an enormous amount of ass, more than Nirvana ever did; and Novoselic's Eyes Adrift (featuring Curt Kirkwood from the Meat Puppets) is a neat disc -- and now he's gone all political. Actually, this is as good a space as any to shout out to the Meat Puppets, one of the forgotten bands of the 90s. They broke with "Backwater" off 1994's Too High To Die album, which was a stonking disc, top to bottom; released another stonker in No Joke; then fell off the planet when Cris Kirkwood OD'ed and imploded. Great band that vanished too soon. (Note: Lots of great Puppets live shows [url=http://www.wohlers.org/puppets/]here[/url]. Special note to the 93-95 era stuff, which have good sound quality and cool setlists.)

It seems to me that there are (or were) a lot of Nirvana fans who hate Foo Fighters to no end.

The problem with the Foo Fighters is that they techinically only have one song. At least that was true for their first two albums. After that I stopped listening.

I kinda like the Foo Fighters myself, at least what I've heard which isn't much. Learning to Fly -- great single.
