San Diego Serenade via Deadspin.com:

1986 World Series Game 6 Re-Enacted in RBI Baseball

I can't actually view this at work, but it sounds nifty enough to try at home.

Wow. This is the coolest thing ever.

Not bad. Some little things were wacky, like Gary's single hitting the left field wall, but most things were close enough that I don't know how he set it up.

That was the nature of RBI Baseball. Hard singles went through to the wall. The outfielders never ran fast enough to cut the ball off, but the batters were often too slow to take advantage.

Buckner also was shown to boot the ball instead of it going through him.

Great and fun effort though. He gets a blue ribbon just for the Marty Barrett screen.

Haha, yeah, that was great.

And the cartoon Buckner actually keeps the ball in front of him in the infield.

OE: haadn't seen Edgy's post when I made mine. Never mind.

The best part of that was listening to Vin Scully....

The guy mentions it in his intro, but did the color guy fall asleep during this inning? He reminds me of Uecker's partner in Major League II.

That was great. I showed it to MK, who loves the Mets and loves video games - he loved it

It said on the article that he was cut out for time.

Three people at work--one of whom knows me to be a huge Mets fan, two of knows me to be a big Sox fan--called me into their offices today to "show me something."

The next person who so much as has a certain look on his face gets "I've already seen the Buckner thing" from me.

That was a really great video.

Also, I wound up on a wiki database of RBI Baseball info, which includes a great profile on Tim Teufel.

Highlights include:
-Beat the shit out of Rob Dibble after he beaned him in 1989
-Drove ladies crazy with his patented "Teufel Shuffle"
-Has great hair

EDIT: That RBI website is better than I thought.
"Rafael Santana sucks complete ass. He has the worst ratings in two of the three hitting categories, Power and Contact, and a very bad Speed rating. In addition, he is a righty. He somehow lucked out to win a ring with New York. What a loser this guy is."

'Fun Facts
* According to the book The Bad Guys Won, Santana would routinely bring animal/midget/etc porn into the locker room. Also, while passed out drunk, urinated on a teammate during travel.
* Teammate Ed Hearn said that Santana had "a C**k the size of a bat"'

"[Gary] Carter's man-perm ranks second only to Don Sutton"

I have no memory of that fight. But if Tiny Teufel beat his ass it's even further proof that the Nasty Boys were a bunch of bullshit.

It's disturbing how vividly I remember every detail of that inning, although I guess I'm not the only one here like that.
