I certainly hope not. He hasn't had a heart attack yet. But that scrawny 75-y-o guy that sings in his band has had heart surgery. Go figure.

... otoh, Keef has had brain surgery. Are you ready to match that?

Well, along with my Diabetes, in the last four years I've had operations on both eyes, renal carcinoma and the heart attack. While it seems like I'm trying to check off all the boxes, I'll try to avoid that one, thank you.

Geez, guy, are you sure you're not Donald Trump? This is not about you. It's about a legend during his own life and it's clear you are not that guy. Another palate cleanse is required.

Happy (dammit)

Re: Happy Birthday, Keef!

Not trying to make another 'How did Keith even make it this far?!?' joke here, but I would have guessed a bit older than 76

The main reason is that I think of him and Mick as virtually exact Beatle contemporaries and so was surprised to see that both (Mick turned 76 during this past summer) are younger, by 5 and 10 months,

than youngest Beatle, George, which in turn makes them a full three years junior to Ringo & John who'll mark 80 next July & October.

I mean, that's not much of a difference and they obviously still qualify as contemporaries, but I just hadn't realized that the 'Glimmer Twins' were so precociously young (still in their teens) while

starting out and even touring and getting a record deal - even if Jones, Watts, and Wyman were all a bit older.

And now, nearly 60 years later, the words of Robert Earl Keene seem appropriate: 'the road goes on forever and the party never ends'

If you haven't read Keith's bio, Life, I wholeheartedly recommend you do so.

Okay, what are your favorite Keef Riffs? And I mean riffs. Hard chord strumming. Not individual string picking, like the opening to Gimme Shelter.

OK, back to Keith. His wife and kids live in Connecticut.

My wife's friend and Keith's wife https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patti_Hansen go to the same hairdresser and are friends.

That's a good question and one that deserves dedicated consideration. I have to drive all over town today and will play Stones on my car iPod. I don't have everything they ever recorded, so that will limit the sample size, but there's always YouTube to fill in the blanks. Gimme a few days and I'll have a top 5 or so.
