Memories of Carlos Gomez

On the day one Met named Carlos stepped/was nudged aside, another — Carlos Gomez — revealed his decision to retire. He finished his thirteen-season MLB run as he began it, as a Met.

In his second term, he stood somewhere below Rajai Davis but above Aaron Altherr as a stopgap outfielder. Kept bringing the enthusiasm to the end.

I'll oddly remember his half-season with us more fondly than the stats would indicate.

I will also perpetually remember him as the other half of the Wilmer Flores Thing.
