Memories of Luis Avilán

As one Luis ascends, another fully departs.

Could have been worse, which is high Met bullpen praise.

Avian came on during the late July afternoon game vs SD when Diaz was removed for injury concerns and nailed down the ninth like it was no big deal. It was the win that started the 15-1 stretch that featured Michael Conforto's bare torso.

Entered to Johnny Cash's “The Man Comes Around,” which itself is All-Star caliber.

Now with MFYs, so good luck will necessarily be withheld,

Re: Memories of Luis Avilán

I'm sure he did good things as a member of the Mets. But the one memory I have is that awful inning in Washington. He gave up a groundball hit to the rightside. Off the bat I thought it could be an out, but no one was anywhere near it.

So there you have it. Luis Avilan, played a part, I guess the smallest part, in the biggest single game collapse in Mets history.

Wasn't he the guy with the weird hat?

Uh sorry I got nothing. He's a Yankee now, so, of course, I hope he dies in a fire.
