Fun stuff-- especially that tasty twin-guitar line at the ass-end of the chorus.

This band isn't really new. They're from the 90s and two of them died in horrendous rock star ways towards the end of the decade. But they're generally unknown outside Quebec, so I'm guessing they'll be new to this forum. I found them when going down one of my Montreal rabbitholes.

Our pal smg thought the forthcoming Midnight Oil single released this week was facebook-sharable but evidently not New Music For Old People By Old People sharable. Anyway that one was good, but this other new one it inspired me to find, is even better, with the rage, and the horns, and the jangle-breakdown and the power chords and the smashed-on drums. It's a 5-tool Oily classic.

I was gonna say there's just a tiny bit of muscle missing from that rhythm guitar that I wanna imagine Malcolm zaps you with just a tiny bit harder. But yeah, same old AC/DC. I thought for sure with George and Malcolm out of the picture even the re-addition of their old players couldn;t recreate the formula.

I saw them on their last tour but I saw the "Axl D/C" variation, during Brian Johnson's hiatus. It was a fun show. It's alll about Angus at those concerts, the front man is almost incidental.

We've discussed this song before, somewhere. I feel like Josh Ritter is almost great. He's like a mid-rotation country-folk starter with good enough stuff to go out there and throw a no-hitter but doesn't always.

What's also interesting in this is that Grohl is kind of locking in to the Stones angle, bringing less Ringo and more Charlie Watts, attacking on top of the pocket rather than thundering into a nook just behind the beat as is more of his signature. Also Stonesy in that it's more snare and less toms.

A group that had never heard until a co-worker recently mentioned them...they write about a lot of historic stuff...their most recent album "The War to end all wars" focuses on World War 1...other than the fact that I like late 70's and early 80's style Heavy Metal, I like that they write about history; and they also have a "historical" youtube channel (in addition to their normal youtube channel) where they discuss the history behind the song...
