4th starter -(let's put that "put him in the bullpen" stuff to bed)

13-10 4.10 ERA, close to what the back of his baseball card says.

I predict that if there's a baseball season Matz will serve as the Mets' first-ever starter not to start as a regular gig because they think it'll help preserve cumulative team arm strength, and due to his awful 1st inning track record. Perhaps there's something to CAHNfidence of giving him a lead to preserve. I also think he'll be under some surface pressure from Gonsalves and could be traded.

Well, MRC has him already sitting behind Rick Porcello and pressed by Michael Wacha, so times are hard for him, and he needs all the inspirational songs from the wifey that she's got.

8-8, 4.12. Leads the league in Ron Darling faces, turning in despair and frustration whenever a batter gets to him for an extra-base hit.

Comes up big at least once in the post-season, however.

Ingrown toenail neglected during the non-season-starting downtime takes an

ugly turn for the worst. Back in early June, pitches well enough to be a chip in

the big July trade. Huge, huge I tell ya...
