Dead Transaction Line

While I assume transactions are still eligible to happen, and maybe a few have, the wire is not going to light up a lot in coming weeks.

In fact, I think this could be the end of the line for a whole class of ballplayers on the margins. If you're not in somebody's camp yet, a late invitation is unlikely to happen, because nobody even has any idea what their budget is anymore, because they don't know how much of the season is washed out. Also, as nobody else is likely to blow out an elbow in the next few weeks, sudden openings won't be popping up. Probably the opposite, as injured players are given that much more time to heal, teams feel less pressure to have Plans B and C ready for opening day, whenever that might be.

And these marginal players probably won't even have much of a chance to fall back on the indy leagues as a chance to stay in the picture and stay in shape. I imagine they are all seriously considering canceling the whole season, as they seemingly tend to operate pretty close to the margins themselves.

Even non-roster players who are under contract are in a tough spot right now, as they may end up getting cut or released never really having a chance to show what they could do.

You can hang on to your Devin Mesoraco and Ervin Santana stocks, but I don't think they're going to bounce back.
