Video Conferencing

So, in the age of Stay At Home, our video conferencing has gone through the roof. Used to be once a week with Lefty Jr on Skype. But now I'm doing a lot more for work, not to mention my wife's Happy Hour with the Girls on Tuesday, a get-together with the in-laws on Wednesday, Virtual Dinner with Friends on Friday. Been using the Google Meet I use for work for these evening events and it's been pretty solid so far.

So, are you conferencing? What system do you use? Are you wearing pants?

Re: Video Conferencing

a friend signed up for a real zoom account, we've had weekly happy hour/nightcap calls the last two weeks. my local brewery is having an Order of the Atom 'mug club' meeting tonight that I may or may not attend. We've done a few skype calls with my parents for the kids that we don't usually because we see them regularly.

The Kindergartener has zoom'd with her Daisy troop, and is (sometimes) doing ballet that way. She's got a 10:30 zoom with her class today, mainly because I don't think her teacher knows how Google Meet works, which seems more secure and less problematic than zoom.

I like customizing the background though. that's fun.

companies seem to like team because it's packaged in sharepoint/office365/etc. I find it clunky and bleh for the most part, like most of Microsoft, though granted I haven't used video conferencing with it.

Re: Video Conferencing

I'm not cool with trying to get a refined level of usage on multiple different platforms at once.

We use Webex at work and I'm on it every weekday, sometimes multiple times. We've zoomed with our kids and my wife's cousins.
