To keep us occupied MLB has selected 64 historic "best" baseball teams for a simulated tournament. Kinda like March madness for baseball

The 1969 Mets got knocked off by a Marlins team... ugh

The 86'ers knocked off a Rockies team. They now face the 1998 Padres. Results are revealed 5/27 4.p.m Link above has it all

I'll pick our beloved cokeheads over the San Diego Steroid bunch in 6. Short series, short half life. Mets can rest for a couples in anticipation of an mlb parade.

Riveting.

I'd like to see the '86 Mets play the '81-'82 49ers.

In a game of basketball.

If you set aside the eye-rolling urge aside... it's at least mildly interesting. They simulate entire series between these bit-players-- '70s squads and '80s powerhouses separated by just a few years, Josh Gibson- and Satchel Paige-led teams laying waste to major leaguers, a bunch of playoff near-misses and regular-season-leviathans who went belly up in short series... it's frighteningly detailed, too.

Who wouldn't want to see that?

Best detail to come out of the MbtN interviews with Marty Noble was Noble's contention that Kelvin Chapman was the best Mets basketballer he ever saw — including Darryl Strawberry. Unfortunately for that dream matchuup, Chappie was out of baseball after 1985.

I assume he never saw Chris Young tooling around a St. Lucie Court, but maybe. He probably saw Terry Bross, though. deGrom is supposedly a really good baller too.

Dwight Clark could dunk. He's dead now, though.

Yeah, me too. For a while I was seeing a lot of articles in my Google News feed about fictional games. I don't know if I did something to get it to stop, or if it somehow happened on its own. There was one article about how somebody (an individual player, not a team) hit eight home runs in one inning. That doesn't represent an incredible athletic feat; it represents faulty software code.

Well, I'm glad to see the Expos made the draw. Floyd, Alou, Pedro .... Moose Milligan ... .

A little too much John Wetteland for my money, though.

And the dream season winner is... The 1986 Mets taking out the 2001 Mariners.

The Mariners made the final?

Re: MLB Dream Seasons 1986 Mets

Well, 116 regular season victories suggest they could win a game or two.

Congratulations, Mets? We finally have that followup championship!
