The 6'6" lefty was originally drafted by the SAWX and he turned them down for college (U of Oregon). He was later drafted #1 by the Mets and he signed with them. Later

I think we are a little early to say anyone is 'slumping' and certainly early to downgrade the defense like that because of it

Part of this has to do with my brain still needing time to re-adjust to baseball mode after so many months away (or maybe just senility), but I don't recall ever having heard of Erasmo Ramirez even though he's been in the league every year since 2012. Partly that may have to do with him being in Seattle and Tampa most of that time but, still, 192 games pitched including 92 starts. Oddly, his BB-Ref picture is one of him in a NYM hat although he doesn't seem to have been part of the organization even at a lower level.

I have, but that's mostly because of fantasy baseball, and my tendency to stream starting pitchers therein. Bloopy inning nets Mets three. They'll... um... need more, I'm guessing.

The Best Red Sox hitters were primarily lefties: Ted Wiliams, Yaz, Babe Ruth, Tris Speaker, Wade Boggs, David Ortiz, Fred Lynn. (Foxx and Rice, too, but more lefties). First, there are more RHP's out there and in Fenway, all pitchers mainly pitch to the first base side of the plate to make it harder for batters to aim for the Green Monster. All this helps lefty hitters.

He just seems too anxious so far. He's swinging at everything and he's looked awkward in the field. Maybe Dom gets a start at first if this keeps up. And maybe switch Pete to the decaf.

It seems so close you can reach out and touch it, so the tendency is to over-swing , going for that "easy" home run. Well the difference being there's generally more great now. For my $$, he can flail away at 3 consecutive pitches out of the zone with 2 guys on and one out as long as he's also a .300 hitter with some doubles and triples over the course of a long year
