July 30 also brought us Gil Hodges removing Cleon Jones from left field amid a doubleheader sweep at the hands of the Astros and Justin Upton removing all hope between monsoons in 2015. As Casey would have said, you could look it up. I applaud the alternate team names in the IGT header.

I thought today was an off-day for some reason until early afternoon. Don't know why, assumed it was a two-there two-here thing. Would be nice to take this series against an obviously inferior (should be) team.

There's no signal issues here from any of the 4-5 50,000 W clear-channel NYC stations, they just don't work well indoors.

No, the boys at Mets Roster Central are dropping the ball. I visited them last week and the whole office was unspooled analog tape and a giant flow chart made of Post-It notes on the wall with, like, six arrows pointing back to step one. There's talk of outsourcing the office to Estonia. I can say no more at the moment. Probably said too much.

They REALLY don't. I'm a bit more concerned with the hitting us out of big innings. I mean, if we can't smack around Martin F-ing Perez and Eovaldi, what the hell do we expect to do with Cole and Scherzer, exactly?

The walk to Davis is a start. Perez just seems to be throwing a lot of high slop. With the righthanded power in this lineup, somebody has to tear into one.

The season is too short to hope that Yo recaptures his glory. Perhaps they should have Cordell (for Marisnick) in the OF to improve the defense with JD/Dom at DH for awhile.

This whole game is a disgrace. Each team brings in a reliever to hold the line in the B8/T9 innings and it takes them a combined 70-some pitches to record four outs even though no one on either side has git a ball hard yet. Mostly, they haven't hit the ball at all.

Diaz looks like the same guy. Some of the best stuff in the league and no idea where he's throwing it. I think the project he most reminds me of is Jorge Julio. But Julio was never the closer, and once the Mets got him settled down for two good weeks, they traded him for Orlando Hernández.
