TWiB Notes -- 7/27 thru 8/2

Yes folks, TWiB Notes is back this year despite no popular demand whatsoever.

- Mike Foltynewicz somehow cleared waivers and has been sent to the Braves' 'Alternate Site' (sounds like the place where Black Ops squads take people who are then never heard from again)

Considering the teams that are in desperate need of pitching (starting w/Boston) or just plain healthy bodies (Miami) I'm surprised he slid right through.

- Talk about your slow starts, how's this for a line?: .037/.071/.148 in 28 PA

And the weird part? ... it's Christian Yelich. 6 for 27 (5 singles, 1 HR) w/1 BB and 12 Ks

Ugh!

Just eyeballing this real quick --- but 6 for 27 is a .200+ batting average. And five singles and a homer is a .333 slugging percentage.

That's because Yelich is actually One for 27 this season (that one being a HR)

Bad transcribing job on my part. The slash numbers are correct as shown.

His OPS+ right now is -39

He's also 0 for 1 on SB attempts

Tigers reliever Tyler Alexander struck out nine consecutive batters in the first game of Detroit's minor league doubleheader vs Cincinnati. His attempt to tie Tom Seaver correctly ended on a HBP.

Now five HRs in five games for Judge.

6-6 after six for Yanx/Sawx

Shohei Ohtani to the DL for "arm discomfort".
