That was an ugly looking injury. And whatever it turns out to be, a calf/achilles injury to a pitcher, particularly on his push-off leg, figures to be a long one.

Having said all that, I think recent events have told us that this is NOT the time to take your foot off the gas. Get as many of the three runners on across the dish to add to the three already in.

If Cano's groin is really tight, we're gonna see more of Dozier and it appears that WSH knew what it was doing but not keeping him.

I'm declaring this, the bottom of the 6th, to be an official 'Big Inning' in this game. If Jake gets through cleanly I'm going to feel good about it from here on in. But if we have to go to the pen before the next three outs and protect a shrinking lead with three-plus innings left then I'm going to officially have nervous.

I know he hit a HR once but I legit feel like Guillermo is 1 for 350 in his MLB career. Not a good hitter.

And don't get me wrong, I'm still nervous here. But this pen protecting a 5-run lead with [CROSSOUT]9[/CROSSOUT] now 8 outs to go is a helluva lot better than with only a 3 or 4 run lead and the books not yet closed on the 6th.

He has averaged almost exactly one IP per game during his major league career, so I didn't know what to expect when he started his second inning and was pleasantly surprised with the result.

Mike Soroka is done for the season -- torn achilles. That's certainly what it looked like. He made just a slight and quite innocent looking bounce on his right leg as he turned to cover 1st -- something every pitcher has done a thousand times -- but just as he did you saw the calf/ankle kind of quiver and about a half second later he was on the ground.
