I know this isn't quite in keeping with the mocking spirit of this thread, but I find the whole idea of the game being sponsored by (among others) OLD DOMINION FREIGHT LINES to be kind of odd.

I mean, I know the theory behind this type of stuff is to introduce and familiarize the company's name with a wider audience with some vague hope that it'll pay off down the road ... but are the

watchers and listeners (there are both between inning commercials and on-field signage) really saying to themselves; 'Y'know, I was just looking for a freight line so I could move a buncha stuff

across country so maybe I should give these guys a call
'?

This one, plus those DOOSAN ads from the post-season over the past two years (Doosan is a South Korean heavy equipment manufacturer) seem to be an odd fit with sports. Whatever the motive,

this kind of sponsorship certainly shows how far in the rear-view those days are when sports ads were strictly the province of male consumer product staples: beer, cigarettes, gasoline, and razor blades.

Lowe's, safe way before and always was safe, before safety became a thing.

I'd love to sit in on these message choice brainstorming sessions for these big

name ads. Gotta be a bunch of assholes swilling vodka-a-plenty.

I was thinking the same thing about Old Dominion. And I was also thinking that I have no idea what SPDRS or Blue-Emu are.

My thought about the purpose of those "not for your average consumer" type ads is to target investors to boost name recognition for their stocks.

The pretty girl in the pink dress says, "I'm your daydream!" I think, yeah, you are! But then I find out that she's the daydream of her own doppelganger. And everyone else in the commercial also has a daydream that looks just like themselves.

I'll tell you this: My daydream doesn't look exactly like me.

Some of those folks in that 'Daydream' commercial are famous folks.

Actor Liev Schreiber plays one of the 'pairs' and I think at least one/two other is/are a basketball player.

my mlb.tv wants to show me (about 30 times per game each):

1) the annoying stadium beer salesman roaming the neighborhood selling bud light;

2) annoying little caesar commercial with the long haired freak, who's saxophone converts to a cellphone;
