Kokomo was pretty much their last hit. Truly great American band. McCartney had been asked if any USA songwriters could 'outdo" the Beatles back in the day, he responded with Brian Wilson

It's a good full circle, as the Beach Boys were probably the biggest influence on the Ramones.

For so long the unstated scripture of ROCK was that time began in the summer of 1965. It was "Ticket to Ride" and "Like a Rolling Stone" and "Satisfaction" and any big ideas emanated from there. Anybody who didn't understand that music became important then was farce, like Sha Na Na, or jiving around, like the Who playing "Summertime Blues."

It took the Ramones and the B-52s to reach back before that summer and remind us that, no, there was wonder and meaning back then too, and there was still gold to be pulled from that vein.

It was fun how fascinated Regis was by weirdos.

Mills taking the lead vocal he should have had all along.

Well, there may be a few Stooges fans that would question that. Dee Dee and Johnny

became friends in high school because they both dug The Stooges.

There's some real gold out there, Regis was way cooler than most people knew...

I had no idea rock stars were on Regis, having never watched his show on purpose. Interesting thread

I never watched it either. I kind of knew that the Ramones were on at least once maybe

because some of the interview might be on one of the DVD documentaries I have or something.

I started poking around and was pleasantly surprised.

Here's something different, Styx 'Unplugged.'

That Styx appearance is more typical of what you could expect on Reej. Legacy acts doing a quick run-through of toothless versions of their top hits to remind an aging audience why they should buy a reunion tour ticket/boxed set/greatest hits package.

Hey Styx! Play 20 seconds of a song we already hear too much of!

To the extent I like "Lady" it's in the reward of its dramatic climax and not necessarily the climax itself
