I actually kinda like my in-laws. They're even Met fans.

My in-laws all drive me batshit insane. I could go on on this topic for some time.

You know the difference between in-laws and outlaws? Outlaws are WANTED.

Re: Ooooooouuuuuuuoooooogh

It's my family that drives me insane. I'm actually closer to my brother-in-law than my brother.

Re: Ooooooouuuuuuuoooooogh

My brother and sister in-law are both dead at the present time but I got along with

them ok. Of course, their living in Colorado and California certainly helped.

Re: Ooooooouuuuuuuoooooogh

When we were staying with them between places a few years ago, I would come home while my mother-in-law was watching the news and attending to light chores in the living area. One day, while I was in an adjacent room, she heard something on NY1 about the Trump administration moving to eliminate emergency immigration-rules exceptions for natural-disaster-displaced Haitians and Salvadorans; she muttered back something about them clearing out the garbage, who are "only here to take take take" (MILD paraphrase). I pushed back a little, raising the issue of people she knew who I knew were personally impacted by this. Her answer: "So many of them, they just send money back, or they buy things... they don't buy houses. It's sad, but they will be okay if they do it the right way. And the Lord, He will take care of them."

My mother-in-law is a union retiree, and a native Salvadoran.

The people I was talking about were family and family friends of hers. She used to be best friends with the Guyanese Muslim family next door, and volunteer via her parish to help recent-- often undocumented-- Latin American immigrants settle in the community. Her golden years-- and this last decade or so-- seem to be... doing things to her.

Very sad LWFS. I am worried about my sister in law losing it. She's just 62 though. But so into conspiracy theories. I don't get it

The thing about conspiracies is that, depending on what group you run with, you can be labeled a nut for believing in certain conspiracy theories while also being considered a nut for Not believing in others.

And then of course if you run/think/cavort with the opposite crowd they'll do the same thing only in reverse.

I was taught not to speak ill of the dead, so I won't talk about my wife's family or I might start.

Re: Ooooooouuuuuuuoooooogh

That whole child trafficking story is an oddity even among conspiratorial oddities.

I have no clue as to the origins of it but, as with many conspiracies, the complete lack of supporting evidence in effect becomes proof of evidence in the mind of

the followers and it allows them to easily connect the story to whomever they want.

I'm convinced we all just need to block propaganda channels on our parents' televisions.
