IGT 8/19 Mets @ Marlins -- A Jake in the Grass

Frayed Knot
Aug 19 2020 02:42 PM

The third game of this four-game set sees Jake deGrom return after one missed start to face 24 y/o Pablo [CROSSOUT]Cruise[/CROSSOUT] Lopez already in his third season for Miami

The Mets beat Lopez ten days ago although he didn't pitched badly and has just a 2.25 ERA over his three starts. His ERA for the previous 21 starts in his career however is just south of 5.00

Lineups to follow, probably by someone who pays attention to Twitter ... iow, not me.

It helps that he's only had to retire 5 innings worth of hitters in order to get thru 6 innings thx to GiDPs and other erased runners.

    Wow Pablo Cruise was great

I was revisiting them recently. They emerged from the freaky Bay Area scene around the same time as the Doobies but went a different direction.

The two guys are still together touring, after one of them became a country singer and the other a prolific Baywatch/Disney/TV songwriter once the punks and new wavers defeated them. I was into World's Away when I was like 13, it comes off fun but a little too engineered to me today.

The Marlins hit three potential GiDP balls here in the 7th inning yet we've turned those three into a total of two outs.

Our side, on the other hand, are real good at turning grounders into multiple outs.

I saw Pablo Cruise 3 years ago and I'm a fan but it was a long night. I could have used a crisp, hour-long hits set rather than a full headliner set with an intermission. There was a long gap where I just looked at my phone following the Mets while waiting for their 3 biggest hits:

    https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/pablo-cruise/2017/bethesda-blues-and-jazz-supper-club-bethesda-md-53e2db81.html
