The Bet $128 to Win $100 Thing As Part of Team Coverage

It's crept in slowly and is kinda creepy and disturbing to me on some level.

I get an occasional blurb sponsored by BetQueens but now it's on the bottom of

the screen all the time and it's not sponsored on screen.

Yep, sleazy, agreed. Might as well dredge up the rotting corpse of Jimmy the Greek.

In a way, it's kind of sleezier than that, no?

I mean, Jimmy wasn't hooking you up with the bookmaker.

Since SNY is also owned by the people who own the Mets, isn't it time for the Commissioner to come knocking on the Wilpons' door with a suspension (or other penalty)? Owners have not been immune from the no association with gambling rules since MFY owner Del Webb was in a similar loose relationship in the Sahara Casino in Las Vegas.

I know, they want a piece of the action. The gambling is there, why not cash in. I guess

it's like the third-party ticket partnering they muscled into. What's next, getting a cut of and

prompting on-the-road 'escort' services for players? Money laundering, that's huge too!

Good one. That's one of those things that ridiculous on the face of it now, but in 10 years, who knows?

More concern for me right now is that getting licensing revenue from these sources means less of the pie comes from marketing the actual product, making it less likely that, when faced with a choice, they become less motivated to protect the integrity of that actual product.

You've apparently missed the trend where sports are now driving head-first into sports gambling, not from it.

I can dream that the Commissioner will slam the Wilpons, can't I?
