What about a makeup game against the Marlins? I would expect a doubleheader on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.

Re: Back At It

If this happens, the Mets will play 9 games in 6 days. Then they have a day off, 2 days in Baltimore, and then another day off. If all goes well.

Re: Back At It

Since you can't have players in uniform or in the clubhouse over the (26?, 28?) roster limit, as these DH's pile up (particularly the ones in NYC) both the Yanx & Mets should just have the remainder of their

60 man alternates sitting up in the stands amongst the cardboard cut-outs. Then, after Game 1 of a DH, they simply send five or so guys from the dugout to the stands and bring five guys down from the

stands to replace them. And then do the same for Game 1 the next day and then again between games of that DH.

Now we know why they didn't DFA Paul Sewald, although I think a cardboard cutout would have a better chance of getting a batter out.

Sheesh. 9 games in 6 days? Can they resign Bartolo and RA Dickey?

Re: Back At It

If a doubleheader game is tied after seven innings, do they start the eighth inning with a runner on second base, or does that still wait until the tenth inning?

About the only good thing here is that Jake doesn't miss a turn and is set up to pitch Sunday against the Yanx. The rest of it, Ay Caramba.

I'll be the former.

But I'm tellin ya, the solution to game length longterm is 7 inning games all the time. I'd adjust though and play by the dumb 10th inning rule only when it got to the 10th. To the extent this idea of radical change is inevitable.

5:10 PM tomorrow. MIA is the home team in Game Two.

Rest up--there's a lot of Mets baseball after today.

Good lord, you too? What's next, everyone bats one handed with shortened bats?

The tinkering has to end. Immediately.

I'm fine with seven innings in this time of bizzaro crisis but if if goes permanent I'm

outta here like, like, I can't think of anything but see ya!!

Good news! I've been looking for the Mets next game starter and couldn't find it. ESPN MLB scores has Gsellman starting tomorrow, and if that's true, I'd pitch a fit.

Of course, there are two games tomorrow, so Gsellman may start one of them and deGrom the other. Maybe it's better to have Gsellman start a seven-inning game than a nine-inning game because his starts tend to end early.

Forgot about the doubleheader. Also, ESPN had it as just a single game. Maybe that was Gsellman's regularly schedule start had the Mets schedule not been covid-interrupted.

It's probably better for deGrom to pitch a seven-inning game, as well. It's doubtful he'd go nine, and with less innings in the game, that's less of a chance for the bullpen to screw it up. deGrom should get to pitch a greater percentage of the entire game, if nothing unusual happens.

Re: Back At It

The Mets lose 2 games at CF against the MFYs. While they will be the "home team" at YS for 2 of the 5 games this weekend, Tim Britton raised a good point: as fans are not involved why isn't the doubleheader on Friday or Sunday at CF instead? Brodie "smirked" when he was asked about this which seems like he raised the point but MLB didn't agree.

The Tuesday DH is a 5:10 start ... which means there's little chance of it being over prior to midnight.

From DiComo:

Tony DeFrancesco is coaching third base today. Brian Schneider is serving as the Mets' bench/quality control coach today.

Gary DiSarcina and Hensley Meulens are not on site for undisclosed reasons.
