Trade Deadline 2020

It's the trade deadline and a younger version of Yoenis isn't walking into that lockerroom. After yesterday, trade 'em all. Or better yet, none of them and let the new regime figure it out... but we know that BVW is open for business as the Mets are just 1.5 out of a playoff spot. The fact that they are "out" tells you how this year is going and everyone other than Pittsburgh is within a few games so being close isn't a great distinction. Joel Sherman said yesterday that the Mets want a catcher. Christian Vazquez (BOS) and Austin Hedges (SD) are possibilities. https://twitter.com/Joelsherman1/status/1300422835907723265

Yawn. Hedges to CLE as part of a big deal involving Mike "Rules Don't Apply To Me" Clevinger.

I... please. No deals. Like, at all. I really, really don't want to see a single one. We don't even have a rumored deal-- or a real Kazmir, even-- and this all is already redolent of Victor Z.

That said... I like that Clevinger trade for the Padres-- only one consensus top-10 minor-leaguer (Arias), and virtually everybody they moved was blocked at the major-league level. (Secondarily: the Pods look like tons of fun, and a good secondary NL rooting interest prospect in the playoffs.)
