Known for his speed, but he was one of only three players to hit a ball into the center field stands at the Polo Grounds.

Those late sixties Cubs might have been far more formidable — and the 1969 Mets would have had a harder road — if Chicago hadn't traded him.



Did a great job staying healthy and on the field (or playing hurt), and kept his wheels far past the age where most guys have lost more than a step. Everybody knows he set the record by stealing 118 bags, but it's far more remarkable when you think that he did it at 35.
