1) the position in the batting order doesn't cause a player to do better or worse 2) Pete was killing this team early on when he was hitting almost exclusively in the 4th slot

I ain't buying it. Plus, as mentioned, he was at his worst while hitting 4th early in the season. A handful of ABs at the end doesn't change that.
