This poll is inspired by this, from fivethirtyeight.com: Now this is a good icebreaker question for parties: On Monday, YouGov asked Americans, “How many enemies, if any, do you have?” Forty-four percent of respondents said they had no enemies, 5 percent said they had one enemy, 8 percent said they had two or three and 2 percent said they had four or five. A concerning 4 percent of Americans said they have five or more enemies. The remaining 36 percent were like, “WTF, YouGov?” (read: they said they didn't know).

Kind of a deeper question than one might think. At first, I was going to say I have no enemies. Then I googled this: [I]A person who is actively opposed or hostile to someone or something. Hmmmm

Its an interesting question. I feel like I maintain some enemy type relationships in life. I have a competitive streak that comes out in my work (I'm acurely aware of what my company's competors do and how they do it), but also in some dumb situations like riding my bike or running or driving, I often feel driven to pass those in front of me. Finally I've developed a few adversarial social media relationships that sorta define our relationship, with Trump leaning knuckleheada I knew in school. So, I dunno, 5 or 6?

Wow. I can honestly say I have no enemies. Not even someone who dislikes me that much. I have a boss who I can't stand but who thinks I'm a great guy.

I consider anyone who hasn't passed my rigorous screening process to be an enemy, so I'd say my current count is somewhere north of seven billion. I mean, sure, most of them don't know I exist and most of th9se who do don't really care. But that doesn't mean I can't consider them enemies, right?

If there's an image there I don't see it. I was thinking that maybe the most recent of my enemies were at the MoFo, especially when I'd dabble back there under a new identity. That new identity was extremely unpopular over there ... and I loved every minute of it.

I don't have anybody I feel ill-will toward, but I'm a tiresome internet presence so it may be likely that others don't feel the same way about me. I've completely lost my sense of humor when it comes to the president, so I have a few of his fans who'd like me to get stuffed. Met Fairy decided to cut me dead and I never knew why. I hope to find out some day. Salamander Q and I get along terrific off this site, and miserably whenever he has tried to come back.

I sorta liked most of the caustic fucktards we've met talking baseball online. I admired the purity and devotion of their POVs even as I almost always disagreed and almost all of the most aggressively argumentative were also kind of funny and held interestingly strong opinions on other matters like music and stuff. What I didn't like were their fan clubs who thought they were just as funny and interesting but were not

Oh I certainly didn't hate every dope on that old place. But there were a handful and even more during my second go 'round.

I went to a Mets game with The MezzMan once. We were delayed getting out of the park, and so by the time I got to my car in the auxiliary lot, it was mostly empty, but I saw four guys climbing into another nearby car, and the jersey the driver was wearing said COSTANZA. I thought, maybe that's the Cee Dude, and what a great time to get square. I'll see if this is my guy, and if it is, I'll buy him and his buds a beer in College Point. On the other hand, he and his buddies may be lit up already, and carrying some post-game bitterness. Four against one, you know? In an otherwise empty Queens lot. Just as I'm on the fence, I got a call from my not-yet-wife on the flip-phone I was briefly carrying. I picked up the call and let the moment pass.

I hear that if you can't spot your enemies, then you ARE the enemy. I mean... zero? I can't imagine I live in anyone's head. I mean, situational enemies galore... and there are PLENTY of people I can't stand, but I'm generally polite about it. And outside of certain public figures, there are very few people on whom I'd wish ill.
