Memories of Lou DiPaoli

Mets Chief Revenue Officer out after 7 years.

I don;t know shit about Lou but I do know the Mets were managing so as to bolster the longterm franchise value by recognizing they had to draw fans when they were young and so (IMO) sorta overcorrected to this "family-friendly" offering, worried that our generation was the last of the hardcore baseball fans. They seemed acutely aware the Mets were just one option in this vast marketplace of entertainment options.

Those may all be valid theses, but in total they struck me sort of underestimating the uniqueness of a successful and exciting team which in the big-picture of Fred & Jeff always came second and they seemed to think was subject to luck and not design. "we're snakebitten, baby!"

I remember when I first heard his name. It seems like it was about 30 seconds ago!

Certainly hope Lou wasn't pulling any financial shenanigans at the behest of the Wilpons.

This guy thought we were Pittsburgh, where he had the same job. No offense to Pittsburgh, but we're not.
