Adopted - Aarom Baldiris

Time to get reacquainted with my adopted son, Aarom Baldiris. EZBoard tried to seperate us, but the bond was too great. I wanted someone that was patrolling the hot corner within the system. Baseball America has this to say of Baldiris: Aaron Baldiris, 3b: 20-year-old Venezuelan thrived in his first full season, batting .313-6-68 for Capital City in 106 games while being named a Sally League all-star and finishing second in the circuit with an .396 on-base percentage. Baldiris has demonstrated a fine eye and good plate discipline thus far. His walk to strike out ratio is outstanding for a young player (51 BB/55 K's at Capital City). The Mets awarded Baldiris the 2003 Sterling Award for Capital City (A). Well, Aarom is no longer manning the hot corner. He has spent most of his time in Binghamton learning to play second base. With David Wright hopefully entrenched as the Mets third baseman for many years to come, it is a transition that should help his career. Aarom's lack of power at the plate was not well suited to a big league career as a third baseman. His numbers have dropped off some with his promotion to Binghamton this spring, but he continues to draw walks and get on base. His stats for the season are as follows: AVG = .270 OBP = .348 SLG = .349 OPS = .697 He has 19 doubles and no home runs for the season. He has committed 9 errors during his transition to second base. Hopefully, he can get his average up in the .290-.300 range befor e the season ends.

Two dingers! In one day? That's practically a season for Aarom. That should help boost the slugging percentage a little bit. Thanks for the good news '62. I've been a little out of touch with happenings for the past few days.

Aarom been busy since I last checked in on him. He has gone on a power rampage with 4 home runs in the past 3 weeks. He has raised his average to near .300, as I had hoped. AVG = .292 OBP = .363 SLG = .420 OPS = .783 He has 24 doubles, 4 home runs, and 33 RBI's. Unfortunately, his transition to second base hasn't been all smooth sailing. Aarom leads the B-Mets in errors with 12. Hopefully, his fielding will improve in the second half of the season.

Aarom has cooled off some the past 5 weeks, but still he's having a pretty good season while making the transition to second base. AVG = .271 OBP = .338 SLG = .388 OPS = .726 He has 30 doubles, 6 home runs, and 48 RBI's. Unfortunately, his defensive struggles at second base continue. Aarom leads the B-Mets in errors with 19.

Aarom was stolen away by Texas when the Mets attempted to sneak him through waivers. Fair thee well my "son".
