Zambrano gets into and out of a bases loaded, 0-out jam by K'ing Jim Thome looking and getting Pat Burrell to ground into a 5-3 DP. That was one scary inning.

Philly loads bases in the first only for Burrell to ground into double play.
Maybe the planets are re-aligning or something, I thought for sure he was
going to hit a grannie and send me on to something else early.

That'[s Mr. Excitement for ya. Bases loaded on an error, a sac-bunt/single and a walk, but comes back to get Thome looking and Burrell to hit into a DP.

He's the Mangina.

What in the name of Leo Foster was that crap?

Wright is trying to sabotage this game for Zambrano.

PS -- Clones-MFY Jr.'s on your NO Network.

Cliff deserves a nice BANG POW for hitting a solo job the other way, while Zambrano deserves credit for a strong bottom half of the inning, keeping things tied.

Sleeping on the job again ...

Cliff pulling it in and cracking his big creaky body against the wall with bags juiced.

Is there any doubt that this is Cliff's team and has been all season. Let's make him assistant GM!

Almost deserved another bang pow. What a play.

Fran making a regrettable argument to leave Zambrano in when we all could see how shot his location was in that last inning. Even Frannie was going on about his release point being lost.

Great job getting the walk by Mienkiewicz.

LET'S GET READY FOR SOME BUNTING!!!

And when the heck did Ted Robinson become a Rick Peterson apologist? He kept going on about people making fun of him and his "ten minutes" comment about Zambrano last year. Hey Ted... we make fun of guys when they say silly things. Get over it.

Edgy DC

The point was that a supposed internal alleged comment got leaked by a nameless source and Peterson got hung out to take all the heat for the Kazmir/Zambrano deal.

Tie game.

Zambrano off the hook.

Good to have Cammie back here.

And just like that, it all falls apart.

Johnny Dickshot

shitfuck.

Clones-MFY Juniors tied 2-2 in the 7th.

Clones fans are calling for the debut of Bobby Parnell.

S'okay; these things happen. Keep at 'em, boys. Six outs to score six runs. They can do that.

Seawolf, you are so funny!

KC

Well, they got two back as Piazza pads his stats with another meaningless
(unless they have a sick ninth inning comeback) but solidly hit HR. He has
to lead all-time great Mets in meaningless "big" hits.

seawolf17
Jun 22 2005 09:57 PM

And don't forget his career lead in GOICS.

I want the Mets to load the bases in the ninth inning, so Fran Healy, sitting in his house, calling the game for his dog, can tell himself that "now that home run by Mike Piazza really matters."

Gah! I was just reminded by a forlorn Scarlet Knight that she is at this game...

Gack. I hate losses.

Mets cough it up. Clones cough it up.

Gotta say, we're not playing well.

Wright & Woody make bad plays early, which in the end cost Zambrano 1 run and a whole inning of pitching.

WWSB wusses out bigtime and plays smallball so we can tie the game, only to see his bullpen choices give it right back sixfold.

Beltran & Reyes give us zippo in the 2-3 holes.

I put up Schaefer polls for the last couple of days; everyone vote so Yancy doesn't yell at us when he gets back.

Dim consolation A: Well, Willie went with the Kiddie Corps in the bit moments and they came up short. But we'll see if that helps them down the stretch.

Dim consolation B: Billy Wagner threw 27 pitches in an NSS.

As cooby said, D-Dad and I were at the game last night. Our neighbor gave us his two corporate tickets, so it was a date night.

Ashburn Alley has added some new food concessions - Turkey Hill Ice Cream plus Philadelphia Water Ice. That's in addition to the food concessions that were already there (although the Geno's Cheesesteaks weren't as great as we remembered them last year), and the plentiful concessions around the park.

But in a lot of ways, I prefer the old Vet to the CB. I know I'm in the minority, but I never had a problem with the old place - it had decent sightlines, wide causeways, good access, etc.

At the CB, getting to any seats above the 100 level is a trek - too many stairs, not enough elevators, and no ramps. D-Dad and I are in good shape, but for families with small kids or older relatives in tow, it's problematic. We sat in Section 209, in right field, which meant that we couldn't see the out of town scoreboard or the right field corner.

As always, there was a good mix of Mets Fand and Phillies Phans in attendance. I saw one Vote for Pedro shirt, even though he wasn't pitching. The Phillies Phans were pretty quiet and well behaved until the late innings, when suddenly they found the courage to be vocal.

We moved down to section 133 for the last couple of innings because A) we didn't want to deal with the stairway crush after the game, and B) my friend yagottabelieve and her hubby were there. So we at least had company for our misery in the late innings. Those seats were just beyond third base, and nice, except for the fact that you had to turn your body to see the pitcher's mound and home plate. WTF? This is a brand new stadium - they couldn't have designed the seats to face the diamond?

The bottom of the 7th obviously defined our game experience - as the little guy said this morning, it was a big BLECH!

Anyway, it was a rough game to sit through, but for the first six and a half innings it was fun.

P.S. to Switch Hitter - I don't know the song Enter Sandman, but when Wagner came into the game, I did hear someone say, "Sandman", so I'll assume that's still his entrance music (plus Seawolf said that was his song as of last year).
