In the dictionary under "fearsome lineup," there's a picture of a lineup card with Marlon Anderson batting sixth.

Oh wait, that's in the Dictionary Of Sarcasm.

edit: Apologies to Al Moran, who I somehow forgot to find a photo of for ten straight posts. Sorry, Al.

Having your top two second basemen on the DL, one considers oneself lucky if one has a replacement as good as Anderson.

Who's fucking palm does David Wright have to grease to actually bat above 7th in the lineup?

Seriously, the Mets have probably punted about 20 runs this year between having Reyes leadoff and their best hitter 7th.

Ishii really has no business pitching major league baseball anymore.

Quiet IGT.

Jose Offerman picks up his first Mets

and it's 6-2 bad guys going to the sixth.

Once again Cliff Floyd proves my friend Neil wrong by hitting a fair home run after hitting a foul one.

The Mets are still behind 6-3, though.

That moves Cliff into a tie for the 52nd best all-time Mets HR season:

52. 1998 Brian McRae 21
53. 1993 Jeff Kent 21
54. 1985 George Foster 21
55. 2001 Robin Ventura 21
56. 2004 Richard Hidalgo 21
57. 2005 Cliff Floyd 21

This commercial for the war effort brought to you by Mattie. (I wouldn't want
to be the receptionist at MSG tomorrow morning)

Oh, and ...

Sparse IGT. Wagner wraps it up.

Do you suppose the rain delay was the cause of Ishii crashing and burning an inning earlier? Maybe it;'s a time of day thing?

It could be that Ishii really isn't all that good.

I'm growing tired of the Mets trotting Ishii's sorry ass out every fifth game. He just isn't getting the job done. It's hard to imagine that Heilman could possibly do worse than Ishii has. Unfortunately, I'm not too crazy about Ishii working out of the bullpen either.

Willie on the post-game says Ishii is still in the rotation....for now, are they wating for Trachsel to come back to take his spot?

Love that two nights in a row Keith takes the piss outta Fran about "cahnfidence".

we gotta look at heillman in the rotation again. We REALLY have to. Ishii's just to liable to fucking throw away the game in one inning.

We were at this game, courtesy of our son who got us tickets for Fathers Day/birthday gift.

Used rain delay to buy souveniers for kids. Got rained on, Mets lost, but had a good time and saw a couple of home runs. Did not get a Mr. Met spiral notebook, but got carded buying beer so I guess I look younger than 40.

Wicked ride home, but not til we hit PA. Figures.
