Dear Victim of Circuitous Nonsense - Fabricated, Re-written, and Bogusly
Regurgitated - to Enhance the Martyrdom of a Man With an Elevator that
is Obviously Stuck Between Floors,

As you may know, eHost experienced a service interruption
yesterday. We are writing to express our apologies for
any issues you may have encountered during this time. We realize
that you depend on us to provide reliable Web hosting and e-mail
solutions, and we understand the serious impact these types of
interruptions have.

Allow me to take a moment to give you a little background about
what's been happening at eHost, explain what took place
yesterday and let you know about additional work that will be
done over the weekend.

Over the last couple of months, we have been working to improve
our system architecture and provide customers with a more
stable, secure hosting experience. The changes we have been
implementing provide greater protection from DDoS (distributed
denial of service) attacks; improve redundancy to offer more
robust back-up solutions when something in the system goes down;
and offer more capacity to improve the performance of
customer sites.

At 6:00 a.m.(EDT) yesterday, after weeks of extensive testing,
we moved a database that we use to manage customer information
to a new, state-of-the-art server cluster. The transition went
as planned until 11:30 a.m., when a key node in the server
cluster went offline, impacting our domain name servers and
resulting in the service interruptions. Our Network Operations
team addressed the issue as quickly as possible and restored all
services yesterday afternoon.

However, we were not able to complete the transition to the new
server cluster and will need to do additional work on it over
the weekend. To that end, we have scheduled a service period
from 12:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (EDT) on Sunday, June 26. Your Web
site, e-mail and the eHost Web site might experience
service interruptions during this time.

We apologize if this presents an issue for you and hope that you
understand our need to improve the architecture that supports
your account.

Again, we regret any disruptions you may have experienced
and want to express our entire team's appreciation of your
continued support. If you have questions, please contact us at
(866) 563-4678 or support@ehost-inc.com.

Sincerely,
Gary Engel
Vice President, customer support
eHost

***************** SCHEDULED SERVICE PERIOD *********************
We will be updating our server cluster early Sunday morning.
As a result, your Web site, e-mail and ehost.com may
not be available during the following time period:

START: Sunday, June 26 at 12:30 a.m. (Eastern U.S. Time)
END: Sunday, June 26 at 10:30 a.m. (Eastern U.S. Time)

********* A NOTE ABOUT E-MAIL DURING THE SERVICE PERIOD *********
During the time your account is not accessible, we will be
receiving and storing all e-mails that are sent to your
eHost mailboxes. The messages will be delivered to your
account and accessible when service is fully restored.

If this place goes down too, we're storming their headquarters with pitchforks and torches.

I'll do a triple backup Saturday night. Laptop, desktop, and burn a cd lolol.

Wow, that all sounds MY-TEE familiar.

I'm guessing there are about 9000 new customers sometime during this past month...

Light your torch
Mount your horse
Screw your courage to the sticking place
We're counting on Gaston to lead the way
Through a mist
Through a wood
Where within a haunted castle
Something's lurking that you don't see ev'ry day
It's a beast
One as tall as a mountain
We won't rest
'Til he's good and deceased
Sally forth
Tally ho
Grab your sword
Grab your bow
Praise the Lord and here we go!

To top it off, Comcast is doing maintenane 12:00 am Sunday through noon, and if I shut my computer or modem during that time, I probably won't be able to reconnect.

Sunday morning isn't going to be a great time for accessing cyberspace :(

Just checking in from Dallas. This hotel does not have computer stations in every room, as it's companion hotel in Orlando did last year, so I'm checking in from a cyber cafe. I guess I need to break down and get a laptop some day.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to check in much until I get back home this weekend. I hope this place is still here when I get back.

You're in Dallas Hottie?

Fess up - you're trysting with Annie!

I think Annie is more in the Houston area, but I'm not sure. Texas is a huge state. Houston is a pretty good drive from Dallas-Fort Worth.

I did that drive in 2000 - it's about five hours. Definitely doable, especially if you meet in Buffalo, which is more or less between the two.

Back to the topic of this thread- at 8 am EDT, this board seems to be functioning properly. Does anyone know whether it was down overnight?

Well, I hit a few speed bumps this morning poking around but I guess they're
done. I don't know either if the place was down overnight but everything looks
ok. Thanks for everyone's patience.

Yes, I was here while waiting for my son to get home from the movies (12:45ish?) and it was down.

Arrived home safe and sound a few hours ago. Nice to see that this place is still here.
