Where's Hamlet?
|
Edgy DC Jun 28 2005 02:15 PM |
Hamlet is thus far camera shy. Anybody bringing a camera to DC is welcome to shoot him.

cooby Jun 28 2005 02:15 PM |
Edgy, those bottom two pictures are especially precious!

Ursa had been reading Collette the day those pictures were taken.

Ms. Edgy wouldn't let me scan Hamlet in directly.

I honestly didn't look. These were terrible end-of-life decisions under any circumstances, so nothing extraordinary was necessary, or even optional. The baby was 15 and a half.

Pet insurance isn't cost effective after age 7 - the premiums will kill you (take this from someone who insured a pet for a while).

True and this definitely would play a part in any decision I'd make. I just got a bill for $4,000.00 for my 4 year-old's pre-school 'tuition' for the coming year.
I'll go you one better and say I can't imagine accepting any amount of money for me to allow someone to kill my dog. That's a completely different philosophical discussion.
I've looked - as I recall it's fairly expensive for what they cover.

Seawolf, did you get a chance to check out the Woolrich dog stuff yet? I've been getting a lot of calls about it (holiday gifts?) and I remembered you were talking about it

WP, when my first daughter was born, there was a newborn boy in the crib next to hers in the hospital that my wife and I agreed looked exactly like Winston Churchill.

And then there's the story that former NYY William 'Moose' Skowron got his nickname, not because he was a big strapping 1st baseman, but rather because as a baby his folks decided that his bald head made him look like Benito Mussolini.

Sorry Coob. We did some online looking at the dog stuff, but unfortunately for Peanut, it's all baby, all the time right now. We are going to want to buy another dog bed for the baby's room, though, so I'll go back on and check it out again.
|
cooby Nov 29 2005 07:36 PM |
Baby and Doggie have to share a room?
|
seawolf17 Nov 29 2005 07:37 PM |
No, Peanut stays in our room. But he's going to want someplace to call his own when we're in there doing the midnight feedings.

When my grandson Arick was born, Alberta (Golden retriever - Aussie Shepherd mix), who had always slept in my office, absolutely refused to go there any more. You couldn't shove her into my office. She would bolt down the hall to the baby's room, and sleep by his crib to protect him. This lasted about a year, and then she willingly went back to the office.

Skipper had a visit from the vet this morning (that's right: she's simply too ferocious to visit them). She took her shots like a man.

The nursery has become Peanut's favorite room in the house. Actually, even before it was even started, it was his favorite room, which was weird. Every night, he would run up the stairs and turn right, toward the empty room, and lie down in there, chewing his bone, before running down the hall into our room. But I digress.
|
Nymr83 Jan 19 2006 03:24 PM |
in order to"claim the room" wouldnt he have to pee on the crib or something?

sharpie - "Fatty the cat went to the vet this morning. Third time he's had to go for constipation issues"
|
Willets Point Jan 20 2006 12:24 AM |
The vets were probably disapointed you didn't have a bag load of cat shit for them.
|
sharpie Jan 20 2006 09:08 AM |
Fatty the cat is not really fat any more. He's had a lot of health problems over the past year or so -- last night he stayed at the vets at what are Hilton Hotel rates. His sister has never had any health problems but as far as my daughter goes he is the much-favored cat.

Get better, Fattissimo.

Mook is doing fine. He farts like the 10 year-old he is, his breath stinks like rotting fish and my entire family would welcome any advice on how to solve that, but otherwise he's back to his old spotted self. Thanks for asking, sorry I never answered you.

cooby Jan 23 2006 12:38 PM |
Oh I think I can forgive ya...
|
Edgy DC Jan 23 2006 12:40 PM |
What does the vet say? Bad doggie breath in older pooches is often the result of rotting teeth.
|
soupcan Jan 23 2006 12:56 PM |
Is that right? I didn't know that. Haven't brought him to the vet since the whole kidney stone incident. I will take him this weekend though.

cooby Jan 23 2006 01:47 PM |
Already Mookie is on the back page
|
sharpie Jan 23 2006 02:09 PM |
Fatty is back, he's ok for now. His breath was godawful til on one of his too-frequent trips to the vet they ended up pulling a bunch of his teeth. His breath stopped stinking and he seemed happier since he wasn't being bothered by toothaches anymore.

Fatty had another trip to the vet. It doesn't look good. He's home and ok for now but he seems to have lost the ability to poop. If he were human he'd have a colostomy bag.
