Yancy Street Gang Jun 27 2005 10:11 PM |
Well, not fired. I got three months notice at work today.

Even so, it's never fun when they tell you to go before you're ready to tell them to fuck off.

Best of luck.

Yancy - perhaps you'll find a job in my neck of the woods.
|
Yancy Street Gang Jun 28 2005 09:28 AM |
I might. It's a little further than I want to drive, but not so far that I'd rule it out. I do have a connection or two at a company just outside of Trenton that may be hiring. If some of my closer options don't come through, that one may move up on my list.

Well, if you're coming up this way to check things out, you have an open invite for lunch or dinner at the DiamondKnight home.
|

That would be cool.

I got laid off from a soul-draining job once. Other than it happening about 5 minutes before 9/11 (thereby f-ing up the job market for too long) it was one of the best days of my life. It was like getting out of jail.

Best of luck, Yance.

That's a good way to describe it.

Someone I work with's husband does a lot of Oracle stuff from home now.

I'd enjoy that too. I've heard from a few who have done that kind of thing, and the main problem is collecting the money you've earned. One guy I know lost out on $20,000.
|

Try it anyway.

Yeah, yeah. Kase talks like he's an old curmudgeon, but you know that he LOVES the attention ;)

I swear I'm going to find a way to put this time-consuming hobby to work for me. You should too.
|
KC Jun 28 2005 03:20 PM |
Been saying it for years, out loud less and less. The man hours added up would be a staggering figure.
|
ScarletKnight41 Jun 28 2005 03:23 PM |
Well, the MOFO lead to Kase asking me to write to kcmets.com, which wound up leading to a gig at Mets Inside Pitch for a time. So yes, there are ways for this hobby to pay dividends.

I mentioned that my son's LL coach is the CEO of MLB Advanced Media which is the parent of mlb.com. I became very friendly with him and If any of you come up with something you think might appeal to the guy, I'd be happy to make an introduction.

Getting out of bad jobs can be quite liberating. Best of luck to you Yance, I'm sure you'll land on your feet. It's good to hear you were thinking of leaving anyway...think of the severance as getting paid to do something you were willing to do for nothing.

Yancy, my husband lost his job when Corning shut down the local plant and offices and put 1200 people out of work.
|
Yancy Street Gang Jul 01 2005 07:51 AM |
Well, to look on the bright side, maybe the other 1,199 people also had injured daughters.

Oh, I HOPE so! :)
