Incomplete Guide to Who's Who on the CPF
Rockin' Doc Jun 20 2005 08:59 PM Edited 20 time(s), most recently on Jan 25 2009 02:13 PM |
With the recent move to the CPF's new home, many of the members adopted new names. It's hard to know who your "talking" to sometimes. So I devised this little cheat sheet in order to keep track of the members and their various personnas.

I was both cal koonce and sharpie on MOFO.

Comments come in context. Knowing who the poster is or has been, and what they have previously written, helps frame their comments in a greater context.

Thank you so much for starting this thread, and compiling the names, Rockin Doc. I have been asking and asking for such a thread and you have done the hard work of providing it. You're recall of screen names is clearly much better than mine. Truth be told, these days I'm having a hard time keeping track of my own name.

This is from around the second page but made me crack up. I originally was coming here because I noticed The Hot Corner was back, I hadn't known that was the alter-ego of an already present "new" CPFer.

Elster, I'm surprised the southern "accent" didn't give me away.

Olerud Owned refers to Shinjo as Mr. Sparkle. I'd like to hear where he got that.

Rockin' Doc Dec 17 2005 06:34 PM |
I can't remember who first applied the "Mr. Sparkle" nickname to Shinjo, but it has been synonomous with his name ever since.
|
Zvon Dec 17 2005 07:53 PM |
|
Im new. I had come across ht e CPF when I was scouring the web for images for that baseball card set. I looked around but moved on. As time went on I found myself visiting places like the UMDB more and more. Mets By The Numbers,as well. Then I came across the CPF again and decided to join up. Alot of it had to do with the fact I liked the direction the Mets have been going in and wanted to talk with other fans about them. I think what made me decide to enjoy more time here was the game threads. It was really neat to interact with others watching the game while it was going on. Ill never forget my 1st KABOOM! lol. BTW- I am and have been Zvon on-line since I began my internet adventures years ago, and its the only name I go by through out the world wide web. (or a variation of it)
|
OlerudOwned Dec 17 2005 07:56 PM |
Ha, I just saw the Shinjo banner in the photo's thread. That's some quality stuff. "AWE-SOMA POWER"

It's pretty odd that the HTML comes out as code if you're not logged in. It obscures the store from window shopping.

There's a new Pearl Jam album out next week and I always think of Slugger, who's to this day the biggest Pearl Jammer I've met yet, and turned me on to some cool PJ live stuff. I googled his handle and found a guy at a baseball sim site with the same handle and a Met uni for an avatar. Gotta be our guy. Wonder why he bolted?

Seo, I agree that it almost certainly has to be the same Sugger1138 that we knew on the MOFO and CPF. However, that link is to a forum discussion dated 4/25/2001. At least the forum is still active, so hopefully Slugger has remained there.
