How long before that tweaked hammie becomes something to worry about?
Edgy DC Apr 17 2006 07:01 PM |
How long before that two-thirds anonymous and underwhelming lineup of Braves becomes a pack of household names.
*62 Apr 17 2006 07:07 PM |
The way Willie keeps running Hernandez out there you'd think he were the only second baseman in the organization.
Nymr83 Apr 17 2006 07:14 PM |
He can sure field though and i don't mind having a "Rey Ordonez" at league minimum salary. Give him another month, then lets see Keppinger.
Nymr83 Apr 17 2006 07:18 PM |
middle of the 1st, 1-0 bad guys.

Sutcliffe, Karros et al made the jump from "no Mets no-hitters" to "no no-hitters in Shea Stadium history" ... way to go, ESPN research department.
So this is why we have Valentin.

Shit! Cliff might be hurt. Comes out for Jose Valentin (??) in left field. Guess Diaz did get sent down.
Willets Point Apr 17 2006 08:22 PM |
Nice recovery by Nady to make the catch.
Zvon Apr 17 2006 08:23 PM |
Shit. That we dont need. Nady gets a awful jump in that bloop but makes a great recovery with the diving catch.

A lot of that going on right now, Jorge Julio accepted. OK, I've turned in my work assignment. I have the sound up now.

I'm CHUCK JAMES, bitch!
Willets Point Apr 17 2006 08:37 PM |
Betemit just got a serious nad shake from that ball. Good for him that he could recover and throw the first. That's why you wear a cup.

Andruw Jones sez: "Chipper named his kid Shea. But I'm Pedro's daddy."

isn't it "excepted"? not asking to be snotty or anything, i get confused about those two words sometimes.
Iubitul Apr 17 2006 08:43 PM |
Bud Selig should say, "Andruw, pee in this cup"
Edgy DC Apr 17 2006 08:44 PM |
Yup. Funny thing is that my excuse for being dead wrong on an editorial matter is that I was editing at the time. Multi-tasking feeds illiteracy. For me, anyhow.
Willets Point Apr 17 2006 08:45 PM |
Speaking of pee, Pedro's pissed now and follows up the HR with back-to-back K's.
Gwreck Apr 17 2006 08:46 PM |
Think that's it for Pedro, a 1-2-3 inning excepted. He's at 97 pitches.
Zvon Apr 17 2006 08:54 PM |
lmao.
Id be surprized if Andrew juices. ________________________ Nady keeps on hittin but we have jack bat after him in the lineup. Well, Pedro can swing a bat.
Gwreck Apr 17 2006 08:58 PM |
I'm a little surprised to see Pedro back out there for inning #7. Betemit, Pinch hitter (Brian Jordan?) and Orr (who he's Kd twice) probably helps the decision.
Nymr83 Apr 17 2006 09:02 PM |
if Floyd goes onthe DL the mets can recall Diaz even if they just sent him down, right?
Gwreck Apr 17 2006 09:08 PM |
Nice K by Duaner to get us out of the 7th. Time for some insurance runs -- top of the order.
seawolf17 Apr 17 2006 09:08 PM |
Yep.
Zvon Apr 17 2006 09:09 PM |
They squeeze Pedro for 2 more outs--I like it.
Johnny Dickshot Apr 17 2006 09:10 PM |
Duaner Sanchez rocks me like hurricuane.
Zvon Apr 17 2006 09:13 PM |

He can just stay on the bus and take the ride back. I hope Cliff is okay tho,I really do. Losing both Beltran and Floyd for this series,..well.... I guess itll be a test for the team to see if they can overcome that vs the Braves. And i think they can.
Zvon Apr 17 2006 09:16 PM |
I liked that 3D presentation of the new stadium on ESPN.
A Boy Named Seo Apr 17 2006 09:17 PM |
I thought if you sent a guy down, you can't recall him or 7 or 10 days? Something like that.
TheOldMole Apr 17 2006 09:22 PM |
I think injury and DL issues can change that.
TheOldMole Apr 17 2006 09:23 PM |
How bad is Cliffie? Did they say?
Zvon Apr 17 2006 09:23 PM |
damn nice 8th inning for Sanchez.

Cairo last year. This year Hernandez. Keppinger next. When will you kids learn? EDIT: BTW, this idea of giving him ANOTHER month is fairly stupid. Now Floyd and Beltran both have questionable health. We can't afford to carry Andy's bat. (Not that we could in the first place.)

could it be that an italian from brooklyn prononces his name differently despite the same spelling as a hispanic player?

Elster88 Apr 17 2006 09:39 PM |

I guess he could've Americanized it. Most likely the baseball announcers never knew how to speak anything but English. But the proper pronunciation for the letter a is the same in Spanish and Italian. Very romantic and all.

Edgy DC Apr 17 2006 09:49 PM |
Gameday is staying with the three announcers in the booth, waiting to go back on, giggling, elbowing each other, Gary Cohen applying makeup to his pate, Keith making sure he's getting maximum coverage with his hair.

who are "my picks" and how are they 0-2? who is "someone else"? I advocated for Hernandez (because Keppinger was hurt) all of last summer and he was given 18 lousy ABs. I advocate for Hernandez now because he still hasn't been given a sufficient sample size. He isn't "0-1" yet because it is only April 17th.
Rotblatt Apr 17 2006 09:51 PM |
Nice game all around.
Nymr83 Apr 17 2006 09:52 PM |
I don't know what good matsui does you, this team NEEDS Diaz right now with both Beltran and Floyd hurting. if you want to bring them both up (by getting rid of valentin and julio) thats fine too, but an OFer is the immediate need,

Keppinger was kept buried at the expense of the laughable combo of Matsui and Cairo. This year it's an even less deserving guy getting all the p.t.. Keppinger has an axe to grind, IMO. If superb defense alone were justification for a starting spot then Endy Chavez would still be starting somewhere. http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/stats/individual_stats_player.jsp?c_id=nym&playerID=435038 Comparing Hernandez to Rey-Rey is a disservice to Ordonez. This is another example of Willie refusing to alter his approach in the face of catastrophic failure. And we just beat the Braves and are 10-2. If Beltran and Floyd miss any significant time, Hernandez becomes less forgiveable.
Nymr83 Apr 17 2006 10:17 PM |
Keppunger was hurt last year by the time Cairo was stinking up the joint, so he never blocked Keppinger, only Hernandez.

I was wondering what Pedro was hanging around for when Willie pulled him. Demonstrating leadership again. Leadership in the pen and on the bench. I'm getting way too high on this team.
