Lets Go Mets, is that Tony Pena's son playing SS?
cooby Apr 19 2006 12:28 PM |
Not the same one that was too old for the LL World Series a few years back, surely?
Frayed Knot Apr 19 2006 12:28 PM |
Hence the 'Jr.' part
Edgy DC Apr 19 2006 12:37 PM |
Among Tony Pena, Yogi Berra, and Bob Boone, "Catchers who sired middle infielders is almost a big enough group to qualify for a Jeopardy category.

I have officially declared this the first Big Game™ of the 2006 season, meaning:
Diamond Dad Apr 19 2006 12:49 PM Big Game |
It is a big game. Despite our injuries, if we lose a series at home to THIS group of Braves, when we had Pedro and Glavine pitching two of the three, that would be a BAD thing.
Hillbilly Apr 19 2006 12:51 PM |
I got to go to a seminar and miss the first hour or so of this one. Then I'll likely go to my lab (I don't know why I have full cable in my research lab, but I do) and watch this one on TBS. I hope to check with you guys from time to time. Enjoy the game!

Heh, just before the WFAN audio switched on for MLB's Internet radio broadcast just heard a phone call between engineers setting up the broadcast.

Hudson looks to have lots of bite on his breaking stuff. He's produced a lot of swings by guys who look like they were completely fooled.

Diamond Dad Apr 19 2006 02:24 PM |

Elster88 Apr 19 2006 02:56 PM |
Who do we want in the ninth? Franco?

Rotblatt Apr 19 2006 02:58 PM |
I think we should put Beltran on the DL. He'd only have to sit out for 11 days, and if it means not having to see Chavez, Valentin & Woody in the same lineup for even one game, it's worth it.
metirish Apr 19 2006 02:58 PM |
No to Franco I would think, to big a game, he hit the backstop while warming up when he pitched last night, wound a little tight I think.

Centerfield Apr 19 2006 03:07 PM |
Come on David. Redemption is within reach.

holychicken Apr 19 2006 03:08 PM |
Wright can wipe away his sins with one swing. . .

Well here you go kid. Make up for it.
Edgy DC Apr 19 2006 03:08 PM |
Is Andy up to pinch-running?
Johnny Dickshot Apr 19 2006 03:09 PM |
I heard Hernandez is lying in a MRI machine.

I hat baseball.
Rotblatt Apr 19 2006 03:11 PM |
Wright is officially the goat. Back pages of our rags tomorrow morning will be firing on all cylinders.
Centerfield Apr 19 2006 03:12 PM |
The worst part about it is that it's going to feel like about a week and a half before first pitch on Friday.
metirish Apr 19 2006 03:13 PM |
They play Thursday night at 10PM, what's Wright hitting at Shea this season?
A Boy Named Seo Apr 19 2006 03:13 PM |
Wright can use the day off. Hell, the whole team can use the day off to get a day healthier without losing.
Rotblatt Apr 19 2006 03:14 PM |
You know, the worst part is that our team, for all its injuries, was STILL better off than Atlanta's.
ScarletKnight41 Apr 19 2006 03:16 PM |
Damn :(
metirish Apr 19 2006 03:18 PM |
This is why WWSB likes to say that you never get too high when you're winning or too low when you're losing, he's very even keeled.
old original jb Apr 19 2006 03:19 PM |
Everybody break out the panic hats!!
Rotblatt Apr 19 2006 03:19 PM |
If it's any consolation, Diaz probably wouldn't have helped very much: 6 AB, 3 K, 0 H, 0 BB against Hudson.
Yancy Street Gang Apr 19 2006 03:20 PM |
I was loving the thought of a game-winning homer by Delgado.
Rotblatt Apr 19 2006 03:22 PM |
Oh, come on. Join the pity party! This game is CLEARLY an omen of things to come: peeps injured but taking up bench space; ballgames lost to bitter rivals due to errors by our marquee player; scrubs getting most of the playing time while better players languish in the minors, etc., etc., etc. 148 games later, we will look back to this game and say, "THIS is where the season turned."
Centerfield Apr 19 2006 03:26 PM |
For what it's worth, I was kind of encouraged by today's game, loss aside.

heep Apr 19 2006 03:29 PM |
The only thing to look forward to now is another shutout by Pelfrey tonight.

Ah screw it, image was too freaking huge, suffice to say Doom will have his revenge on the accursed Atlanta Braves!
Elster88 Apr 19 2006 03:33 PM |
Endy Chavez better not be starting tomorrow.
Centerfield Apr 19 2006 03:34 PM |
mlb is weird these days.

hahahaha...I love the comic references....they are a delight.
cooby Apr 19 2006 03:46 PM |
They certainly brighten up an otherwise gloomy IGT
metirish Apr 19 2006 08:46 PM |
Just watching the replay of the game, Wright had himself a rough day all over the place.
Zvon Apr 19 2006 09:20 PM |
yep-errors kill. So Hernandez goes on the 15 day DL. I know they are calling Matsui up, but whats wrong with calling Diaz back (2 outfielders down) and stickin Woodward at 2nd? Guess we are gonna have to give Kaz his seasonal shot at a position sooner or later. Im thinkin later......
Willets Point Apr 20 2006 07:27 AM |
That was like the shortest game ever and you guys still managed to run the IGT up to 12 pages. Nice pitchers duel with a bad ending. The wind was blowing in something fierce so Andruw (sic) Jones really crushed that ball. Bah!
cooby Apr 20 2006 07:34 AM |
Poor Willets, what a boring game to choose to go to
Edgy DC Apr 20 2006 07:53 AM |
I'm thinkin' that Hernandez is going to be out probably longer than 15 days, and has geen a drag on the offense. I don't see how this isn't the obvious move.
Willets Point Apr 20 2006 08:10 AM |
It wasn't boring. I love pitching duels. The main disappointment other than the loss was that the game went by so fast compared to the 9 hours of driving we did to get there and back.
cooby Apr 20 2006 09:25 AM |
Oh yeah, I can relate to that
Iubitul Apr 20 2006 09:32 AM |
I still think Andruw should pee in a cup...
