Nymr83 Apr 20 2006 06:23 PM |
from mets.com:
Steve Traschel should be barred by rule from pitching a game that starts at 10:00PM, who is actualy staying up to watch the whole thing besides me?
ABG Apr 20 2006 06:24 PM |
I'll try. Chances are I'm out by the third.
Centerfield Apr 20 2006 06:34 PM |
I'll be there. I'll bring coffee.
Yancy Street Gang Apr 20 2006 06:40 PM |
I think I'll watch it tomorrow morning, with a good dose of fast-forwarding.

Watch the 5 AM One Hour version of it on SNY!
Yancy Street Gang Apr 20 2006 07:36 PM |
Can't do that. I only get SNY when the game is on.
TransMonk Apr 20 2006 09:37 PM |
I'm in...fortunately I'm on central time so I get an hour head start...unfortunately Trachsel is the slowest pitcher on the staff, so I still have a fair chance of being up into tomorrow morning.

Elster88 Apr 20 2006 09:39 PM |
Reyes
Nymr83 Apr 20 2006 09:51 PM |
I'll go with 2-2 after 8 mets get the 3rd and final run in the top of the 9th when the padres foolishly pull a cruising jake peavy for a pinch hitter.
seawolf17 Apr 20 2006 10:01 PM |
Trax is going to give up 28 runs?!?! Dear God.
Nymr83 Apr 20 2006 10:09 PM |
Reyes leads off with an 11 pitch AB, flyout to left
Nymr83 Apr 20 2006 10:12 PM |
...but LoDuca and Beltran go quietly, thus dashing my hopes of raising Peavy's pitch count quickly.
Nymr83 Apr 20 2006 10:17 PM |
leadoff triple by Roberts, close play at 3B, pretty questionable to go there with nobody out on Roberts' part.
Johnny Dickshot Apr 20 2006 10:18 PM |
Leadoff triple. Not good.
Nymr83 Apr 20 2006 10:19 PM |
Traschel K's Barfield for the 1st out with the infield back, he will NOT concede the run (and neither would i against Peavy.)
Nymr83 Apr 20 2006 10:22 PM |
the king of double plays hits into another one.

Gwreck Apr 20 2006 10:24 PM |

D-Wright with a double, Floyd at the plate...come on you Mets...

Nymr83 Apr 20 2006 10:28 PM |
McCarthy on the radio is tearing into the Padres for giving in to the stoopid hitters and moving the fence in 10 feet in right-center.

Peavy K's Nady with Wright on 3rd. inning over.

One AB, already more production than 2 weeks of Handy Andy.
Nymr83 Apr 20 2006 10:41 PM |
inside the park homer for Matsui, he has now homered in his first at bat of every season with the Mets...the disappointment starts here...
Johnny Dickshot Apr 20 2006 10:42 PM |
I do not believe what I just saw.
A Boy Named Seo Apr 20 2006 10:42 PM |
Good to see Matsui laughing and whooping it up in the dugout. Dude deserves a few smiles.
ScarletKnight41 Apr 20 2006 10:42 PM |
For the third year in a row, KazMat's first at bat of the season is a home run (although this is the first inside the parker) -
Johnny Dickshot Apr 20 2006 10:43 PM |
All this and Piazza actually blocked the plate.
martin Apr 20 2006 10:43 PM |
that is fantastic, the guy i really want to suceed, doing my favorite play!
Nymr83 Apr 20 2006 10:44 PM |
he didnt do that with the mets?
Elster88 Apr 20 2006 10:46 PM |
You are all my bitches.
Centerfield Apr 20 2006 10:46 PM |
Awesome. Kaz finds his purse.
A Boy Named Seo Apr 20 2006 10:47 PM |
Nice bit of third base coaching by Manny Acta there, too. It was pretty ballsy sending Matsui coming off a knee injury and leading off the inning, but it worked out great.
Elster88 Apr 20 2006 10:47 PM |
Seriously though. That has to have never happened before. First at bat of a player's first three seasons in a row?
TheOldMole Apr 20 2006 10:48 PM |
Anyone ever notice how much Kaz looks like Bruce Lee?
Elster88 Apr 20 2006 10:49 PM |
Not even a little bit.
A Boy Named Seo Apr 20 2006 10:50 PM |
Zvon, put a Met cap on Mr. Lee, please.
Centerfield Apr 20 2006 10:50 PM |
Kaz kinda has his hair tonite.
Elster88 Apr 20 2006 10:52 PM |
Nice play by Reyes on the fake bunt by Peavy.
Nymr83 Apr 20 2006 10:52 PM |
you better delete that, it seems pretty racist, kinda like whenever you say any two black people look alike.
Centerfield Apr 20 2006 10:52 PM |
Come on Steve. Hold 'em down here.
Elster88 Apr 20 2006 10:53 PM |
True. Galante would've sent him back to first. Shirley we all realize that Andy has a better mitt than Kaz, but maybe the difference in speed is not that great. Kaz was flying.
Centerfield Apr 20 2006 10:53 PM |
I think Matsui looks like Pedro.
Elster88 Apr 20 2006 10:56 PM |
Nady throws home over the cutoff man foolishly....again. Roberts gets to second.
Nymr83 Apr 20 2006 10:56 PM |

I never claimed Kaz didn't have speed, but then again Rey Ordonez was fast, its all about knowing how to use it properly (which Kaz did know how to do in Japan.)

he hasn't been pretty out there, but Diaz managed to make himself look worse by having the ball go under him in a rare start this year. As long as Nady is hitting theres nothing to complain about.

I was wincing even as I hit the "Submit" button. Wasn't sure how you would take it. "Your mom" jokes became a matter of course for my buddies and I growing up to the point that they didn't mean anything. I sometimes forget to modify my behavior when interacting with the real world. My apologies if you were offended. (sc = zero)

he has creepy eyes, like when they showed him catching his breath in the dugout, he was giving everyone the evil eye.

Just tuning in. I say to myself, "Self, heh-heh, I hope Kazzy homered on his first... holy crap!"

i'm listening on the radio right now, the overshift isn't being used against Delgado anyway?
Gwreck Apr 20 2006 11:07 PM |
Probably not with a runner on? (I'm also listening on the radio).
Nymr83 Apr 20 2006 11:08 PM |
i saw it done last sunday with a runner on at Shea.

Gwreck Apr 20 2006 11:09 PM |

Willets Point Apr 20 2006 11:09 PM |

Centerfield Apr 20 2006 11:09 PM |
Wright double play. Buzzkill.
Nymr83 Apr 20 2006 11:10 PM |
Mike?
Centerfield Apr 20 2006 11:11 PM |
SNY has been running a series of "stop smoking" commercials featuring some guy named Mike talking about dying of cancer.
Nymr83 Apr 20 2006 11:12 PM |
as much as i support ANY anti-smoking initiative that seems a bit excessive.
Elster88 Apr 20 2006 11:13 PM |
SNY has been shady so far. I don't feel even 25% of the hate for Jeter that most non-Yankee fans do, but three different commercials featuring him are pushing it.
TransMonk Apr 20 2006 11:13 PM |
Checking out some other images from the Japanese site that the Matsui image is from. Looks like someone's portfolio, but I can't read Japanese.

runner are now 13-14 off LoPiazza on the year.
Gwreck Apr 20 2006 11:16 PM |
For all the talk of stealing on Piazza, Lo Duca hasn't been any better so far this year. 1-14 throwing out runners trying to steal.
Nymr83 Apr 20 2006 11:17 PM |
Shinjo was #5? so it went Olerud-Shinjo-Wright?
TransMonk Apr 20 2006 11:17 PM |
Castro has thrown out 2 of 2.
Gwreck Apr 20 2006 11:17 PM |
Runners are 0-2 against Castro.
Nymr83 Apr 20 2006 11:18 PM |
he also broke up a no-hitter on sunday, Castro rocks (but i suspect that he does so only in small doses.)
DocTee Apr 20 2006 11:19 PM |

give him a 1-year deal next year but dont let him bat until the playoffs. i'd pay 1 mil for a leadoff homer in the NLDs, how bout you?

Just an error. Johnson grounded out, Wright to Delgado. Peavy grounded out, Reyes to Delgado. Roberts flied out to center.

Sheeeeet, that one was so easy I can only assume it was a set-up.
Actually, he's failed a few times at that already this season. Old Man River finds the only easy spot to HR to RF at that park.

Cool. Reyes gets a called strike on the inside corner, looks clueless when the ump calls it, but then singles on the same pitch.

The fan who ended up with the ball gave it to Franco in exchange for a bat. Anticipating a call from the Hall of Fame, Franco said he'd send either the ball or the bat, but not both.

Willlie can and should say "No, you're not" whenever he feels like it. That's why he's the manager. "Carlos, I'm glad you feel better, but it's the middle of April, let's rest you and get an MRI as soon as we can." These are the things you say BEFORE putting him back in the game to aggrivate his injury.
Nymr83 Apr 21 2006 11:14 AM |
Willie doesn't have a PHD, its gotta be the team doctor telling Willie when a player is ready.
Rotblatt Apr 21 2006 11:17 AM |
I'm with Elster. Beltran shouldn't have played last night. Beltran supposedly felt tight before the game, which means he should have been sitting.
Elster88 Apr 21 2006 11:18 AM |
To top it off, they could've left him in New York to get an MRI, instead of now waiting another couple of days.
