NHL anyone?

Rangers v. Devuuls in round 1. Should be fun.

We have a Rangers thread buried somewhere, even though Jersey are the hottest team going right now the Rangers should be up for them, as in the past they play well against Jersey in the playoffs.

Still I espect Jersey to advance, shout down Jagr and you shut down the Rangers.

This thread should have been titled "Sympathy for the Devils?"

Yes it should have been. We - as a group - need to be more creative with our thread titles.

But here's the problem in general:
A late season comeback like what the Devils just pulled off should be the stuff of legend: 11 straight wins to end the season and steal the division title from 2 different regional rivals by the thinnest of margins!
... except that it doesn't really matter.

The way these winter sports have structured themselves - where making the playoffs is only slightly more of an accomplishment than making the phone book - winning a division nets you only one extra home game in the 1st round, and maybe even a 2nd one in a later round providing you last long enough. Whoop-de-dam-doo! The NBA & NHL both have watered down their product to the point where there's barely a benefit to doing what the NJD just did.

It would have been a really cool accomplishment if it actually like ... y'know meant something.
