Seawolf's on Jeopardy!, baby...

I'll be there, to match my intellect, in New York Ci-i-ty,
Against some folks pulled from the internet, hope to get on TV.
I'll be tense, I'll be nervous,
I hope that I do all right.
The Contestant Search team will give the answers,
Oh, and I hope I get the questions right-ight-ight
Might be on Jeopardy,
Baby,
(Ooo-oo-oo-ooh.)

Jeopardy! did an online contestant search test a few weeks back, and guess what! I made it to the next round.

On May 15, I'm taking the Jeopardy! contestant search test in New York City. I believe they do a 50-question written exam first, and if you get past that, then you get a shot to play the game in front of the Contestant Search folks. We'll see how it goes.

WTG seawolf!

One of my classmates is also in the second round - she's testing on the 12th.

Best of luck!

Thanks. Give that person my e-mail address and ask him or her if he or she will let me know how it goes!

Best of luck, Seawolf.

I did the Jeopardy tryout a couple of years ago. The exam was tough, the questions come at you fast -- faster than they do in the game show -- so be ready to write down your answers and move on to the next question.

Cool. Good luck!

See if you can attract the attention of the producers by providing answers in the form of a creatively worded question, i.e.: "How many is George Washington?"

I'll donate to the charity of your choice if you say:

"Penis mightier for $400, Trebek!"

seawolf - good luck on Monday!

My classmate tried out yesterday. She said it was a lot of fun, and that they're looking for people with lots of personality. So be perky!

Did she make it through? I'm nervous as hell, but I'm usually very perky. I'll bring some extra perk. (And breath mints.)

Maybe Peanut could stand in for you; he looks pretty perky

She doesn't know if she made it through. They'll let her know if they need her within the year.

Thats a long time to have to stay perky

Wait... was there a written test? I've been freaking out about the written test. Is this basically a personality audition? Ask her if she'd be willing to shoot me an e-mail.

I'll ask Wolf, but no promises. Apparently they were sworn to secrecy.

What goes on on Jeopardy stays on Jeopardy....

Ah. Fair enough. (I'll tell as much as I can. But if I vanish from the Pool shortly thereafter... you know what happened.)

Got on the LIRR at Port Jeff at 8:30, expecting to arrive at Penn at 10:30, mosey my way up to the Waldorf by the noon appointment time, picking up a little lunch along the way.

At 8:35, the train coasts to a stop, about a tenth of a mile from Stony Brook, the first stop. They made an announcement about how the engine was dead, that they were working on it and "hoped to be moving soon." I sat patiently for a bit; we were stuck on a train, so there wasn't a whole lot to do. I figured as long as we got rolling by 9:30, I'd still have a half-hour window to get from Penn Station to 50th St after spending two hours on the train.

As 9:30 neared and it became pretty clear that we weren't heading anywhere soon, I called my wife and asked her to meet me at Stony Brook so she could drive me back to my car so I could try to drive in. They finally announced that they were bringing in another train to push into the station so we could disembark and get on another train. By this point, the two-hour window was too close; it would be noon before I got to Penn. So my wife came, and I raced through the monsoons into midtown. I quickly found a garage on 51st, grabbed the ticket from the guy and sprinted to the Waldorf.

Once I found the room, it was all better. Scarlet's right; they kinda swear you to secrecy, but it was a lot of fun. They asked a lot of questions, and basically told us the same thing they told Scarlet's friend; we're in the contestant pool now, and maybe they call us, maybe they don't. So we'll see what happens. One way or the other, a very good time, and I'm glad I participated. If they ever call, I'll let y'all know.

Good luck.

It would be cool if you and my classmate were both called :)

Seawolf how did this ever turn out?

Wow, this is an old thread. They never called; I like to think that it was because they had a long-time champion with my name on during that season -- Ken Jennings says in his book that there were other "Kens" on the list who never got called because of that reason during his long run -- and not because I didn't wow them.

I retook the test this spring, but they haven't called me back yet.

Well, that's a good tip. When I audition, it'll be under my pen name: "Mookie Strawberry."

I passed the online test last year and was invited to/attended the live audition in Manhattan. I did not get called to appear on the show however.
