Now, this is more like it. The Mets gave the Shea faithful a great Easter present. Bannister struggled through the worst start of his young career, but he showed some real toughness in working out of several jams. The bullpen did a credible job in an extended effort. Oliver may have stumbled, but his bullpen brethren were there to pick him up. Hell, even Julio pitched a scoreless inning, which is a first for him.
Nady and Delgado supplied all the power the pitchers would need to secure this game.
