Last night's game was a cruel counterpoint to the euphoria of Thursday night's come from behind victory. Watching Brian Bannister pitch can be a frustrating experience, as it was last night. Of course, I'm not sure who he he frustrated more with his perpetual "Houdini" act, Mets fans or Padres players and fans. The bullpen pitched pretty well, considering they collectively had to put in 8+ innings of work. Oliver, Sanchez, Heilman, Wagner, Feliciano, and Bradford combined to scatter 7 hits over 8 scoreless innings while fanning 10 Padres. Unfortunately, they couldn't carry it on indefinitely.

The Mets offense has been stagnant for the past few games (other than the 8th inning on Thursday night). The bats need to come back to life and Pedro will need a strong outing so the bullpen can get some well deserved rest.

The POTG shall receive a six pack of Marathon Lager. On second thought, at just under 4 hours, last night's game was definitely more of a 12 pack game.

Bannister didn't have a strong enough outing to qualify as the POTG. I have to go with Carlos D, who showed the only Mets offense of the night.
