Mets acquire Hawaii-born RHSP Jordan Yamamoto from the Marlins for a minor league infielder Frederico Polanco.

Lots of whiffs, lots of walks, high ERA but he's only 25. Mets must feel they can fix him

Re: Hawaii 5-0

They trade minor league infielder Frederico Polcano and designate Robel Garcia for assignment to make room on the roster.

Re: Hawaii 5-0

First roster pinch of the offseason. It may end up affecting the infield as much as the rotation. (Let's sign Murphy out of retirement!)

Still has options, and I imagine will be starting at S'cuse, because his pitches are all over the place.

He showed signs in 2019 with a K rate of 9.4 Hit rate of 6.2 and a comp of 1.14.

His 2020 was possibly a short season nightmare to be ignored.

Not many Mets have been title characters in their own West Wing episode.

Surprised the Marlins gave up on him so quickly. Maybe they know something -- he was certainly off last year -- but I wouldn't be too quick to bail on somebody I traded Christian Yelich to get. Polanco is young and raw, but he's hit at rookie league.

Yeah, I'm surprised we didn't jump on here fast enough for a thread titled “We Traded For Yamamoto“ ;)

I never watched that show.

Sounds like the Marlins are trying to save $$

Re: Hawaii 5-0

If Yammy continues to wear the 50 he wore with the Marlininians, he'll be at least the third Hawaiian Met to wear Fitty, following Fernandez and Agbayani.

I thought Tyler Yates was in the McGarrett Club, too, but he wore 33, apparently honoring the great state of (checking ... ) Oregon!

GOOD HEAVENS, MR. YAMAMOTO-- YOU'RE PROMISING!

Good spin rates on the fastball (below-average velocity, but good command) and curveball, and the slider appears to be a pretty solid out pitch. Low-risk, interesting reward. At the very least, he's a good emergency starter/swingman option with growth potential. Nice get for low-value prospects.
