... this has to be as weird a Mets offseason as there be.
Possibly bringing in Trevor Bauer, along with already hauling in Francisco Lindor, Carlos Carrasco, James McCann, Trevor May, Aaron Loup, and Joey Lucchesi, along with Sam McWilliams and Jordan Yamamoto, despite missing some of their prime targets, along with bringing back Marcus Stroman and flipping Matz for three prospects, already makes it one of their most active offseasons in the 21st century, or perhaps ever.
This despite starting the offseason with Brody Van Wangenen as the GM, then having no GM, then having Jared Porter as the GM, then having no GM again, and then having Zack Scott as acting GM. It's like the year of three popes. Except it's half a year.
I realize it's largely a product of aging and bad lighting, but no wonder Sandy Alderson looks so tired all the time. Plus, he's had to stand up and take the heat for, like, two and a half scandals. All this during COVID-times, too.
