Memories of Jake Marisnick

Jake Marisnick is Cubs-bound. Jake from State Farm had about as much impact on 2020 Met fortunes.

Two Met homers: one at MFYS III (always appreciated), one vs the O's at Citi Field, which I heard in the car shortly after turning on the game and was impressed by the raucous crowd reaction before remembering, oh, right, there's nobody there.

I liked the idea of Marisnick. The thing with these part-time guys is, you can less afford to get injured than anyone else since availability is supposed to be what you're all about.

My only specific memory of him is that he wasn't there when it was required he be there . That and his dumb hair

Seemed like the real thing, only to find mucho mistrust.

It's hard to play center and wear 16 and not trigger at least a little Mazzilli afterglow. Same with Ángel Pagán, you can't look at a 16 in center for the Mets, and not think, "Good or bad, that mofo is beautiful out there. He's right where he belongs."

Worth the price of admission all by itself.

Re: Memories of Jake Marisnick

I think that he would have been a fine bench player. Good fielder, some pop.

I went to a spring training game last year "at" Miami. One of the MIA fans, maybe the only one, booed him every time he went to the plate because of his Houston connection. I resented this even though I had no problem with the Port St. Lucie fans jeering every Houston player just a few days before.

My only memory of him is on the infrequent occasions I had anything to say about him, I had to check to see that I didn't spell his last name Marsinik.
