So I tuned in about 15 minutes before kickoff... and what I saw reminded me that I'm happy that I missed the preceding seven hours.

The way they designed this year's logo with the trophy in between the L and the V makes it look like it's Super Bowl 54 rather than 55

The game demonstrated what Jets fans have been yelling since the Mac days, the best quarterback in the world can't win with a lousy offensive line.

Oh, and the officials sucked.

There were a couple of funny commercials, I enjoyed the Tracy Morgan ones (there were 2 I caught) as well as Will Ferrell in Norway/Sweden. Most of the rest of them were meh. Game was also meh.

Man, do I love those original Bucs unis. They're never coming back, though. That creamsicle orange color is out of style. As is the helmet logo of "Bucco Bruce". But I love those logos that look like they were designed in the so-called idyllic, less threatening 1950s.

I rooted for the Bucs. I never rooted for Brady before. Or these Bucs because I loathe their uniforms. And maybe this also had something to do with last year's fucking Super Bowl debacle. Or a lot to do with it. So maybe I hate the Chiefs, too. But in any event, I thought that what was unfolding was incredible: That last year's Patriots appeared to be doneski as was the Pats dynasty, with much of the fault being placed at Brady's feet, who was also perceived as over the hill and very much done. So what does Brady do?

Youse know.

They lost to a long time Jets abuser.

And throughout the game, the announcers kept saying how this great TB defense was coached by Ex-Jets head coach Todd Bowles.

When Bowles was here, he couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag, fans on Jets websites kept citing all the breakdowns and bad plays he called. They didn't have to. Those gaffes were blatantly obvious back then. And now he's the second coming of Vince Fucking Lombardi.

BAH!

Re: SUPERBOWL LV, - Pools, Commercials and No 6" Subs

I like to update and review this count at the end of each sports year.

Number of different champions over the last 20 seasons: MLB = 14; NFL = 12

Number of different finalists over the last 20 seasons: MLB = 20; NFL = 19

Number of franchises failing to reach a league/conference championship game over the last 20 seasons: MLB = 3 [Reds, Pirates, Padres]; NFL = 7 [[CROSSOUT]Redskins[/CROSSOUT], Cowboys, Lions, Dolphins, Texans, Bengals, Browns]

Good thing the NFL has that parity-promoting salary cap working for them

Right, he had the one good year and then his yearly winning percentage dropped to

Kotiteesque territory. I was surprised just now that he lasted four years, I would have

guessed before looking it was only three.

Youse know.

He was a veteran presence and good decision-maker (the tonic for what's ailed them throughout the high-flying but disaster-prone Jameis Winston era at QB) on a very, very loaded team-- offensive veterans taking reduced salaries to join up in the offseason; top-3 defense with perhaps the best pass rush in the league; future potential HoFer (Antonio Brown) jockeying for position with a former first-round pick (Miller) for third WR, e.g.-- that gelled midway through the season.

It's strange to me that we've largely changed the conversation about pitchers being solely responsible for Wins, but "he's got the most Super Bowls" supposedly ends the "best ever" quarterback competition.

Don't get me wrong-- he's an all-timer. But that Brady gets the "GOAT" treatment over more dynamic, more talent-lifting, and -- frankly-- better QBs, all because he's been lucky enough to be partnered with Belichick for a decade-plus, has always driven me to distraction. Give Rodgers half the surrounding talent for five years, and he's likely taking down three in a row.

What doesn't belong on this list?

a)Herpes

b)Tom Brady

c)Gonorrhea

The answer?

b)

You can get rid of Gonorrhea.

After the game, Brady announced he will be coming back.

More recently for me as far as SB commercials go, but, otherwise, yes.

oe: And while I'm thinking of it, in amongst the 'congratulations' to the league yesterday (from their network lackeys) on getting the season completed on schedule, there were several tributes to the

NFL for allowing "their" stadiums to be used as Covid vaccination locations. Their stadiums ... you mean the ones they demanded be paid for by public money or else the team would be packed up and

moved cross country?

I wasn't aware that, in addition to footing the construction and infrastructure bills, those cities transferred complete ownership of them over to the clubs and therefore had to ask permission to actually use

the buildings they built for minor issues like public health.

Re: SUPERBOWL LV, - Pools, Commercials and No 6" Subs

Just glad we went to bed at halftime. Honestly I completely resisted checking the score.

Really was looking forward to this game because of two exceptional quarterbacks.

Not having the Steelers there meant I didn't really have a dog in the fight but of course I was rooting for the cute young Mets child.

I couldn't tell you what any of the ads were for. One was for some woman in a pony tail at a restaurant and some guy (Blake maybe? Lolol Balokay) (Key and peele reference) shows up.

I was kinda excited about the John Travolta

commercial but the Daughter dissing dad thing turned me off.

I love the NFL

Oh and I never did hear who was the halftime entertainment. Who was it?

The sound guys kinda really really really fucked him, I reckon. (That mix was one of the worst I've ever heard in one of these.)

Fun fact: not only was he unpaid for that performance-- most every performer is, except for coverage of an agreed-upon show budget-- but The Weeknd reportedly spent $7M of his own Starboys to stage the thing.

I think the reason the spark was gone from this Super Bowl wasn't the pandemic, lack of live fans or anything else except that everyone is just sick of Brady

But that's just my opinion
