I'm mostly scratching an itch here because I think my eyesight is getting worse but it also occurs to me we've been together for years and never had a real frank discussion about applesauce. As I recall it my mom used to give this to us as dessert with a little cinnamon sprinked on. But I don't know if I've ever even purchased applesauce as an adult. Whats the deal with aopplesauce?

I've purchased applesauce as an adult. I've found that... you may want to sit down for this... it goes well with pork chops.

Oh my goodness. Every October we head to a local orchard and pick our own apples. Then we come home and make a big pot of our own applesauce. The house smells divine. It's one of our yearly rituals; we freeze most of it, so we have some October applesauce sitting in our refrigerator right now. Good with pork chops, but man, try it with pulled pork sandwiches. You'll thank me later.

Haven't had it in years, last time was with potato pancakes and not pork chops. Can anyone recommend a good store-bought applesauce? #peterbrady

I make it for the one time a year that I make potato latkes. I also do enjoy it with pork chops however.

We keep it in the house, Wegmans brand with cinnamon. Nice little side dish when the kids aren't feeling the veggie du jour. We also make it homemade at least once per fall, coinciding with us picking 380 lbs of apples in some state of mad ambition and autumn weather enjoyment.
